This goes to pretty core game components, but it is probably one of the biggest immersion breakers for me. Maybe immersion breaking isn't even the right term, but it definitely reminds me that I am the only real player in the galaxy when conflict scores seem to be completely statice except for the effects that I am having on them. I do believe that there is some fluctuation outside of character control but it is pretty minimal if you really commit to swinging a conflict in your faction's favor. Having much more drastic ups and downs during a conflict would really help me feel like I'm not the only captain who is impacting these events. The way it is right now, the player should basically be a faction god because we can single-handedly determine the results of every conflict.
So I would love to see the conflict scores moving much more significantly over the course of a conflict. This would also mean that some conflicts would be impossible win, because one ST Captain should never be able to swing a faction conflict by himself. I would also like to see more scaling in how missions affect conflicts. Not all missions should affect conflict score equally and we should be rewarded and dis-incentivized for more challenging and easier missions. I would also love to see some other things impacting conflict score. In a Solar War, for example, almost any destruction of enemy-faction ships should contribute to the war (maybe provided we have at least one military rank). Lastly I was thinking that some other resolution states would be good to. Maybe anything between -10 and +10 should be considered a draw. Between +/- 10 and +/-30 should be consider normal victory/loss and beyond +/- 30 should be considered crushing/victory loss, each with different results. That would help in the above situation where totally winning isn't a possibility, but if a player swung a conflict from crushing defeat to regular loss they would know they did something.
In an ideal world I would love a report when a conflict resolves that tell us the final score, the total point movement for and against each faction and what we personally contributed.
