For each release I play approximately 10,000 turns in addition to the thousands played by the game's automated tests.
That, my friends, is a lot of ST RPG for me.
Some of the things I do are level a number of characters to level 5, 10 and 15 rapidly while recording rumors, contracts, economic situations and so forth for analysis.
These tests are essentially speed leveling for statistics.
Here are the settings I use for maximum game play speed:
* Mute All Music (just uses CPU we need for simulation)
* Rapid Victory Depart
* Disable Auto Scroll (more about this later)
* Disable Starfield
* Hide Buttons
This setup allows for maximum graphic drawing speed and leaves as much CPU for the galaxy simulation. ST RPG simulates (Elite) over 2,000 vectors PER TURN it needs a lot of CPU!
To move and level quickly, me must not spend time doing anything but kicking Cedar butt and doing Contracts FAST.
With auto-scroll off, you do a little more work yourself but saves time.
1. Get Contracts and set the first one as WP. Swipe-Scroll over to the WP -- use Zoom Map to locate if hard to find.
2. Click WP on scroll map. You will see the WayPath form, but not see the ship (because we scrolled away from it.)
3. WATCH THE HUD! If you run out of fuel, use "Menu > Center" to get back to the ship and run to an Urban Zone for purchase or a Wild Zone for Harvest.
4. If you have a fight kill them (probably Cadar warships) or Acknowledge. When you return to map, you will NOT scroll back to ship. You still see the Waypoint.
5. Click the waypoint again and watch the HUD. Soon the ship will show up and you can continue and repeat.
---
This way is less fun because:
- No high resolution stars
- No sweet flying ship
- No looking at the universe, just the WP
but it is fast.
