I have recently played a combat oriented star trader on challenging, and i have had 2 fights with aliens, althought they seemed to use normal ships, i couldnt notice any difference between them and normal ships....

There are a number of different types of alien ships. Most look distinctively different, but there are a few that closely resemble standard ships. No aliens actually fly in normal ships though, not counting the Alien Hunter officer, who really does look like he is an alien/human half-breed.

If they have as many appendages as we do, I believe they should be able to do so.

But the aliens are pretty stupid if they want to change to a worse ship.

Some aliens do not need brains. (-_- Also, some do not have ships in the 1st place and are just floating in space, waiting for a ship to come by for it to board silently and mutilate the crew one by one "Alien" style.

Yeah just that, like the aliens are bound to their ships systems. Same as if your trying to fly a narvidian ship where is no life support or air, and youre supposed to control the ship throught an eletric cable..
