Hi guys ^^ Before writing my wish,i have to resolve this question(probably i already know the answer but i'm not sure): Have Enemy captains own skills/stats??? I presume yes, they have..a.i. captains surely have, otherwhile i don't explain myself how they manage skills heck in battle =) said this my wish: Could be possible view these stats/skills in the first page of the battle mode?? I know,it'd lowering the realism...anyway there's a way to satisfy that?? =P I'm presuming it will be a No,but asking doesn't cost, luckly

Hmmm! I wonder if theres a generalized stat distrubition for different types of captains? So if you know the class (say pirate or merchant) and you know the level, you can accurately guess the enemies strong-weak points. Not sure if this is correct but for example you could figure that boarding is a good way to attack merchants, but military ships youd want to torp from a distance.

It's more complicated than just the captain stats though. Sure, there will be a weighted range of points allocated to various stats depending on the enemy captain level, but don't forget that each captain class makes a difference. Merchants are less likely to fire the first shot than say a military officer or bounty hunter. Also, AI based on factions makes a difference. A Cadar captain is more likely to shoot torpedoes at you than a Javat captain.
You don't get to see the enemy captain's stats before or during combat because they're not something you'd usually be able to see a game. Most RPG's out there let you see hitpoints and maybe armor type stats, but they don't let you see the individual skills/stats values. Seeing "Level" should be an indicator. If you're level 20 and you see an enemy coming at you at level 50, you don't need to see their individual stats know that it's going to hurt.

for each type of NPC there are
- a set of "builders" that spend XP like you do to determine skills - a set of "captain ai" that command the ship like you do
so an NPC is type + level + builder + captain AI
The system includes enough that for levels 1-50 there are 50,0000 enemy variations and 1,200,000 enemy configurations (when playing on Impossible.)

And this does not generate a cacophonous gaggle of raging demons pouring out from a dimensional rift connected to purgatorial infernos of calculus nightmare. Why?

Do enemy captains have points in skills they dont need, like negotiate and explore? Or do these affect crew and hold goods?

Some of the builders are very random, some of them are wasteful (Military Officers with Negotiation) and some of them are just like -- smart and efficient.
So, there is a lot of variety in the skills of the enemy Captain, based on which AI routine spent her Experience points (which happens in the milliseconds before the battle.)

I wouldn't think they're wasteful, Cory.
There are those Captains who plays on a different set of rules and (like us) if they distribute their points in the wrong manner, someone (us again) would come along and destroy/pillage/rape/enslave them.

So, the logical answer is that as time passes the wasteful captains should die off?

No, as time passes ANY captain would die off.
The wasteful ones just die EARLIER.
