Destroying a disabled ship gives extra XP, and salvaging gives further XP, but Ransom does not. Would be nice if Ransom also gave an XP bonus for captains that are less bloodthirsty.

I agree with this. However, Ransom does risk less reputation loss. Perhaps it should grant some XP but not quite as much?
