So, I have two things I'm very curious to know more about. They're both encounters, random I believe, and I can't for the life of me figure out what they're doing.
Anyone willing to pipe up with a clue for the clue-less?
1. What does the "Nano attack THIEVES you" encounter do? I thought it might steal Yen from me, but my balance seems the same. It's not raising my heat. It's not hurting my HP or MP. Is it looking to steal paydata maybe? (in which case "sucks to thieve my 'sword, he never has paydata to steal")
2. I forget the exact wording, but it's the result of confronting a pursuer that says something like "We won't forget what you did." I'm not clear on whether they're rewarding, or punishing me. But whatever it does, I can't figure it out. I don't think it's effecting my rep/heat/yen, but maybe I'm wrong.
Anyhow, if anyone is less of a newless cluebie than me, please offer me a clue. Heck, might help the rest of the boards as well.....

absimiliard - on the second one, they give you a random amount of credits.

Ahhh, it must be a small amount of credits then. I'll admit I hadn't gone into the status page and checked my exact balance. I just noted that nothing changed from the 3k nY listed on my main screen. Probably was just too small a quanta to show up at that scale.
Thanks Fallen. Us Andy's gotta stick together ya know. (IIRC you're the "Andy" in the Trese Bros., if I'm wrong apologize to your non-Cory bro' for my confusion and I'll buy ya a beer next time you're in the Old Boston Zone in return)

{edit} And may I say, living in Boston as I do, I find the New Boston Zone awesomely amusing as a setting. I just wish it extended out far enough to include my town, but it's clear the dome never gets as far out as "Old 128". {/edit}

absimiliard - this is Andrew. Potential expansions do include Cambridge and Charlestown. However, I think there is more interest in New Denver and the SFO Zone from what I have seen! First, we have to get the NBZ all wrapped. We have the harbor under-way, some islands have been developed. Got any other good Boston tips we should add to the setting?

I think I have noticed small drops in ¥ from this encounter...well before the newer UI update.
actually, when I saw it the first time...it wasn't until after I had installed some 'ware, and I thought I was losing/gaining DV from some kind of nano-based attack that targeted my cyberware.
no hashed files nothing razzed autoexec and sysop files echo clean kernel clean
damn NanoSpids and NanoQuids. lol

I like the idea of getting one or two of the harbor islands in the game. They could be something like zones that you can only to/from by something "thopter-like". And they're self-contained enough that they'd make decent maps, in that they'd have obvious borders. You could even claim one or two of them were domed over, thus providing some extra space.
I doubt there's too much logic in trying to claim that the NBZ dome extends out to Waltham, but Cambridge is certainly plausible. If you're getting some of Dorchester on one end and the North End on the other side Cambridge could easily be crammed in somehow.
All in all I would agree that adding new zones like New Denver, SFOZ, or maybe that mythical Chicago place that some Mars drones claim to be importing from, would be better additions though. Adding in Cambridge/Charlestown would be good for getting in "People's Free and Democratic Republic of Cambridge" and "Big Hair, and impenetrable accents" jokes, but probably would drive the larger game in a more provincial direction. If your goal is to create a big world where high-end knights progress from the "slums" of the NBZ to tougher places where high-end kit is required then I'd advise against developing locally.
I'll admit, I'm mostly tickled because the names match. It's one of the things I like about the TV show Fallen Skies, it gets the names of various Boston-ish locations right. But like Fallen Skies you shouldn't sweat getting the details right, they only will matter for locals and could be confusing to non-locals.
That's my $.02 on it. But since you didn't have to pay anything for the advice please take it for what you paid for it. (as, according to Steven Colbert, market value determines the true value of everything and if you've paid nothing for my $.02 then "The Market Has Spoken!")

absimiliard - cracks me up that the Back Bay has descended to the slums. The early discussion about Cambridge / Charlestown would be that they were out of the dome and worse than the NBZ. There will eventually also be some south shore settlements (where the Great Highway runs) which are accessible. All of out the "out of NBZ" zones will only be accessible via thopter, boat, or other special transport.

Yeah, that is amusing. Frankly, the Back Bay deserves it though. I hate that part of Boston. It's all so fake. To me it feels like a combination of soul-less high-end stores and the soul-less people who patronize them with their teeny-weeny dogs and their oh-so-fashionable hair. (think Paris Hilton sorts)
But, I'll admit I'm only basing that on the few people I've know who lived there. I'm sure my sample wasn't entirely representative.
