grävling, I'm disappointed in you. You take someone who is already struggling with substance abuse issues and you turn them out on the street despite their potential and the fact that you could give their life meaning and purpose. That's cold. ...I think this thread is officially over now. 1. When fallen puts rehab clinics for spice addicts into the game I will reconsider. 2. I think the thread has a bit more life in it. I am in agreement with Sparda's observation that in late-mid game when you get a significant crew member dead, replacing him or her is not easy. But I don't think that making a 5th-level crew talent work at getting significantly better than a 1st-level talent is the way to fix the problem. I think you want a talent, a serious, 15-level and only for captains that have maxed their initial start char talent-wise, for all captains that is a way to call out and put into the captains rumour network that there is a rumour that YOU ARE HIRING TALENT. As long as the rumour runs, you get approached by people who want to join your crew.

For hiring vanilla crew roles, conscripting one at a time with Welcoming Conscription seems helpful. I guess recently they have started adding pirate crew to pirate ships so pirates can come from conscription now. But, for any non-vanilla role late game, there is certainly a level gap between what you can recruit from a contact, and your current average crew level. Would it be reasonable for contacts at the highest p.rep level, to yield recruits with less of a level gap?

Sigh. Those higher tier talents post lvl 5 are basically useless then. Oh well. Kinda dissapointed. But i accept the decision Very interesting you see it that way!

That's odd. Most players I have talked to are interested in having more recruiting Talents.
Oh well, every player plays different!

fallen Cory Trese It's just me i suppose. Like the example that grävling said cemented in me even more that post lvl 5 on military officers you don't need the other types of recuitment talents that are at lvl 8 and 11(if there is a lvl 11) because by the point you reach those levels you have your "ideal" lean crew and working towards a bigger ship that doesn't really need "elite" recruits. Again this is just my view point and replacing a significant officer or something late game isn't too hard if you have those "elite" crew already on stanby.

ye, situation where one need to use more than one or two recruting talents are rare or rather next to nonexistant - most intense at very begining of the game, but at large replaced by **lacking in quantity** welcoming conscripton. commanders are harder to obtain than moffs (starting contacts), and thats the only reason to have recruiting talents on them - even so, mostly having one lvl1 commander one from qm/comander officer is enough for entire game for me. even if i need to recruit larger quantity of crew later in game (due to uh, accidents), its better to do that by ancient art of press gang than having better recruits 30levels behind everyone else. sparda4 so its not only you i suppose

I love getting feedback -- always a useful perspective to included in our analysis and design work. In this case, the feedback is missing a big part of the underlying mechanic -- and players here are taking a counter position to what we know is happening with the average player. These situations do come up -- forum players being a different beast than our average customer -- but they're always interest to examine and really consider the root causes. As others on the thread have said -- the game has more than one way to play, many paths potentially to explore. Not every player will take every one. Never expected it to be a position unique to sparda4 -- I was sure someone else in the forum player demographic would agree. None of that changes how these Talents are being used, however.

Cory Trese Not saying i'm disregarding the average player. I'm not, it is as you said that me being a different beast compared to most players is one of the key factors in why i even suggested it in the first place. I personally just see higher tiers a bit redundant, again due to me building a monster crew as much as i can right off the bat my way with discerning, or how Grävling has mentioned with 10 recruiters eye. So yeah. You guys decided to not change it,it's cool. It's not like i have a hard time anyways but it would have been nice.
