It isn’t really that grateful if you defeat a foreign pirate in a quadrant and loose more (-3) than you gain Rep (+2) for it. Neither of the pirate or the quadrant owner were in a conflict with each other. Is it really justified that pirates or rather privateers are regarded that high for a faction as long as you don't destroy or ransom the ship? At least a balanced reputation drop and raise wouldn’t look that discouraging to go into a fight with such scumbags. Such penalties don’t make pirate hunting an enjoyable entertainment as Independent/Hunna pirates aren’t countless.
This is in contrast to patrolling where you can easily gain so many more RP by basically doing the same action.
