I've salvaged for quite a few different types of gear and with a Device Freak officer you are allowed to equip two different types of gear (Offensive Mod, Defensive Mod, or Personal Enhancer). My suggestion is two-fold:
1) Have the equip gear gear presorted somehow. Currently it seems willy nilly with no visible sorting to the list. It should start with everything sorted by level and then by type or something like that (maybe price is better) (EDIT: See my next post where I realize the error of my ways)
2) Have the equip gear be searchable. I have a lot and others have more. It would be great to search for all your +Init gear, or all your Offensive Mods. Then you can decide which to equip.
Also, I just updated the Salvaging page on the wiki with everything that I have but it would be great to see a list of everything available. That way I know what to keep going for and when I've found what I want.

@space52 thanks for the feedback! We're working our way slowly through the game with these types of QoL features and will keep doing so.

I'd like to be embarrassed for a second. My first suggestion is moot. The gear is already sorted. *facepalm* I'm just too dense to see it. It is sort by type and then by level. Carry on...

Interesting. I tend to sell off all the extra gear since you can only use 4-8 pieces (4 combat crew, some of whom may have DF). Do you really find a need to switch gear between encounters?

I'm trying to find as much of the salvage specific gear as possible. The wiki was woefully underinformed about it and I've taken as one captain's goal to find as much as possible. As such I have a lot of gear piled up. As fallen said, it is only a QoL feature and one that not everyone will need. I do not actually switch gear that often...
