Quoting the Help file: "MELEE COMBAT WHEN DEFENDING Melee Defense Score is calculated by adding BRAWLING+ARMOR DODGE" "RANGED COMBAT WHEN DEFENDING Ranged Defense Score is calculated by adding DEXTERITY+ARMOR DODGE"
I presume it's happens when u choose "Defend" Button,in combat; I admit that i dunno when Ballistic/Deflection value is applied in defence...Honestly,Cory,can u explain us HOW defense is calculated for single case?? ^^

Okay, I'll follow up on Heat with Streets.
It's those damned gangs that keep jumping on me.
Tasering them only delays the inevitable; negative rep.
With every victory, you just get shittier relations with them.
It's kinda strange when I've been running jobs exclusively for them and have them hating my guts just because their boys just HAD to act all big-&-mighty before a bigger-&-mightier CK who can run rounds around them before they could even register 3-4 electrified fists in their faces.
And why do I have to be the one to press the Escape button? Am I the only one in the CK universe to know what kinda fights I should not pick? Are they FORCED to hunt me down or are they high on Crams & Stims?
Thug 1: Hey, look! A CK! Thug 2: Look at his shiny weapons! He's got 3 of them! Thug 3: And his blue gauntlets! Pretty shocking! Thug 4: Is that the latest Nano-suit armor he's wearing? I'll bet none of us could hit him. Hund: *Correct. Let's leave him alone.* Thug 1: Hey, let's go get our asses kicked! Thug 3: Great idea! I love getting stunned! As much as auto-erotic asphyxiation. Thug 2: If he pulls his guns on me, I'm gonna cream in my pants! Thug 4: And on the astronomically unlike situation that we win, I'd love to see him naked without his armor! Hund: *Hey, are you guys dumb? Let's not do this.* Thug 1: Charge forward, hund!

for all combat stuff -- Look at ATT and DEF values in the attack and defend screens.
Those are the number of dices you are rolling. You want the advantage.
The different Empire types (Corp, Security, Gang, Rebels) all have reputations that change differently as time goes by, and they will respond differently to Wanted Flags.
Being "Followed" by a Corp team is different than being followed by a Rebel spy.
Your reputation values will flux differently based on which Empire zone you are in, which Empire zones your a close to, what type of Empire it is you are in (Corp changes Corp rep faster, but the Gangs won't know much about your activities, etc.)
You guys did play Star Traders, right? heh.

Soooo, if Power isn't turned on (and thus Ballistics and Deflection don't matter yet) maybe my choice to wear a Stealth Tekk Vest isn't so bad after all.
(I'd been trying to figure out why everyone was so highly in favor of the much pricier armors when my armor was proving pretty darn effective on Slider. If "Armor Dodge" is active and the others aren't that would quite handily explain it, because the Stealth Tekk Vest has a damn high dodge stat.)

my rule of thumb is that CKs shouldn't be dodging. They need the AP points to go killing with. Of course, you can get to the point where you have AP points to burn. But then you don't need to dodge at all -- just run away, wait for their rounds to end, and then come in and destroy them.
So, only rarely, rarely, do you want to dodge. Thus get a jaguar armour or a hades hardsuit instead.

Well, I'm not using the dodge action. I would agree I'd rather use my AP for offense. I also avoid the cover action.
But if ranged defense is counting the armor's dodge value into it that would go a ways towards explaining why the Stealth Tekk works so well for me. (well, assuming "Ranged Defense" is used in non dodge and non cover circumstances of course)

Yeah, but as written(even if a bit ambiguous for the fact that in the help file isnt specified which type of button ranged defense is related to) i think that is the dodge button(for the dodge value in the equation) =)...

OH, no I did not mean that armor isn't effective.
Power will just balance it out in favor of heavy weapons more, and allow us to use the final equations
