This has to be the worst part of the game. When people desert, you find yourself short-handed, and have no idea who they were or what talents they had. omg I hate this part of the game.

Please find the complete list of who deserted and their class, by using the captain's log button in the ship panel. But, if you are getting a lot of desertions, it may be worthwhile to keep a good eye on your morale level. Are you using spice halls, of high level, whenever required? Do you have enough skill saves to prevent accidents during normal travel? Both of these can result in low morale. In my last couple hundred hours of play, I don't think I've had a single desertion. You can see the details of skill saves by using the talent manifest button in the crew panel.

travisp - sorry that you find it to be the worst part of the game. I can suggest looking at Ship Status > Captains Log to see the name, job and level of the deserter. Then you could check Crew > Talent Manifest to see if you have any Talent deficiencies you need to take care of.

thanks to both of you for the responses! this would probably work well, with some enhancements to the captain's log you have shown me. should I open that as a new feature request? I'm thinking that screen would be GREAT if it had.....
* longer history
* filters
* clickable events (Tom has left the ship) - when you click it you can see Tom and what his talents were, etc.
I'm sure a ton of things could be done with that list. It's just data that we obviously have, we could just give a UI for seeing/querying that data.

Great suggestions. We've got a long list of enhancement requests queued up for the Captain's log, and I'll add those.
- the Captain's Log is permanent -- it cannot be longer
- clickable events are not possible -- the game doesn't have more data
- filters and search are on the list
Most players use a combination of Captain's Log and Talent Manifest to keep track of Talent coverage.
