I'm trying to launch Star Traders: Frontiers on an Archlinux, and at first, it messes up the screen configuration by disabling my other two screens. Then the screen goes black, and then the game crashes. Captured an strace in case that helps. Anything I could try debugging this?

I'd suggest trying to start the game in windowed mode by passing in arguments like "winwidth 1600 winheight 1024"
If you're not able to get it to launch, you should be able to get a refund from Valve since you won't have any playtime.
Thanks!

I did play it quite a while ago, it was already a cool game back then. I was picking it up again, so it used to work a while ago. Thanks, the arguments seem to fix the first problem, but it still crashes. I found a coredump, maybe it'll help. I sent you the link via PM.

I'll try to get an ArchLinux box built at some point this week and see if I can find a solution for you with the Steam setup.
Obviously, nothing I can change in our build stuff, that's all fixed and defined by Valve for compatibility reasons.
If you figure out a solution, or the root cause, let me know. I'll reply to this this week or next if I find anything!

Several users have reported these settings resolve some crashes.

That almost worked... except I had to switch to Proton and use the Windows version. Which made me lose unlocks :-( Better than nothing I guess. I'll take it. Thanks for the help!

Sorry to hear it didn't work for you. Out of a pile of Linux users we've spoken to over the last few days, this resolved the issue 100%. If you're using Steam on Windows, just open Unlocks from the main menu. Unlocks restored!

Glad you got it working, sorry to hear your configuration is not supported by Valve. Sorry! If there is anything I can do to try to help, just shoot me an email at cory.trese@gmail.com Thanks!
