I quite like many Crippling Hit effects on weapons since I prefer to keep ships intact for ransom and piracy. Effects like Electrical Fire and Venting Hull are very good for this. But, it's been quite surprising to me that there are no Crippling Hit chance boosting Talents. I would find them more reliable than Radiation damage increasing talents. These could work as a simple addition to the Crippling Hit chance of a weapon.
Some ideas:
Electronics Tech Level 11: Component Targeting. Knowledge of vital ship components increases weapon efficacy. +20% Crippling Hit chance for 3 Turns Gunner Level 8: Realized Potential. Overloading of weapon safeties maximizes damage. +10% All Damage, +25% Crippling Hit chance, +20 Component Damage per Turn (on self) for 2 Turns Pirate Level 15: Preservation Stance. A good pirate keeps the goods intact. -20% All Damage, +50% Crippling Hit chance for 3 Turns
