Hello,
I happened across ST:F while looking for a "deeper" game to play on my iPhone 12 mini (running iOS 14.2.1) during slow times at work. I bought it immediately after watching a few gameplay videos - it's right up my alley, I'm really surprised I hadn't heard of it before!
Here's the issue: the "notch" on the iPhone 12 mini occludes 1/3 of the links panel. If I rotate the phone 180 degrees, it then occludes much of the events panel.
I asked about the issue on the ST:F subreddit, an iPhone X user said that they had no such issue with the notch on their phone. Screenshot below... as you can imagine, the notch covers the left three buttons.

Gotta love those new devices, new aspect ratios and new notch sizes I've added it to the list to fix. Per the usual, it will be an expensive fix as we'll likely have to buy one.

Thankfully starting January 1 Apple will only be charging us 15% for the privilege for distributing to iTunes, instead of the current 30% of sales.
We'll be able to take those savings and purchase more Apple test devices. Fun times, but we'll get this new notch specification sorted as soon as possible.
Unfortunately for us, the iPhone Mini didn't exist (nor did the 15% rule) when we release the game and made the money on iTunes.

Just curious as I'm not an iOS developer but do the iOS development tools not include an iOS simulator? If so, you would think that Apple would include something like an overlay with the variants of the ALL screen aspect ratios, especially for those that include the notch so that screens of all types can be checked/verified without the developer needing to buy the device(s).

Sure, sure. Might work. Simulator does exist. For things, maybe. Hardware really helps tho. You might be surprised by a lot of things about iOS development once you get deep into it.
