The officers stats are based at the level that you acquired them at ... so a Pilot officer acquired at level 1 will have lower starting stats/bonuses than a pilot officer acquired at level 40. However, they also do gain skills at a rate similar to your own so by the time you get to level 40, both pilot officers will be similar. Are you sure? I lived under the impression that officers provide % bonuses so their bonus is always based on your abilities. And thus it does not matter when you acquire your officers. Have I missed some piece of the information previously "released" in the forums?

7. I did a search on "officers' but didn't really find what I was looking for. So my question is there a list of what each officer does? If not, what do each of the officers do?
I know that's kind of a general question but I guess what I'm after is there any reason to get a "Scout" if I'm playing a Military Officer or bounty hunter? Seems like Scouts pop up more than any other officer but I'm not really sure I want to grab them if I don't need them.
What exactly is the "Veteran"? If he's an alien hunter and it increases the chance of running across aliens, then I don't think I really want that guy.
If I'm playing an Explorer, is it really that much of an advantage to have an officer pilot?
Just looking for some overall Tips & Techniques on the officers. Thanks! ;D

Yes, large crew can handle anything. May I propose a simple exploration trip on a planet with Hazard of 20? ;D Yes, you can, but you will be ignored. .

No if anything the opposite. You will pay a percentage of your wealth. The earlier you take on your Officers the less they will cost. As you the Captain gains exp points, so does the Officer those points correspond to. So your Officer will always equal your exp. Just make sure you add exp in the category that stacks with the Officer and keep whichever cargo that Officers needs to be at its peak. I think;)

I've almost never upgraded an officer in all the time I've played. I did it once on a whim and saw no difference. She even looked the same as before. I suspect she was just the same mechanic, but changed her lipstick. Ole Turdlip recommended her so I hired her on the spot.
Long story short - that was one of the first times I dismissed ole Turdlip in deep space.

Depends if you're the one pressing the button or the one gasping for air, I guess...
