1. Does it really matter where you use your XP to raise levels? One of the rumors says that you should train in deep space. However it seems like raising levels costs the same amount of XP whether I'm in a city or out in deep space. 2. How much money does it use to bribe your crew when they mutiny? There was something else I wanted to ask but I can't remember what it was. I'll remember later and post it.

1. that rumor used to be there to explain why the train button only worked in deep space. that was fixed / improved so you can train anywhere. i see now that is confusing and i will fix it.
2. Mutiny requires half of the Captain's money. If the Captain has over 10,000 Credits it will Restore Morale to 5 or 6.

Thanks for the explanation on Mutiny money. Been trying to figure that one out. I wondered why I could bribe them with only $50 in the bank but if I had lots of money it seemed to use a lot of it for one bribe. Now I know! 3. When I trade during a trade embargo, do I get penalized corresponding to the amount of one item I buy or sell? Like if I have to get water, am I going to lose more rep if I buy 50 compared to if I just buy 10 during a Trade Embargo? Trade Embargo can really cause you to lose rep fast. I've gotten a lot more careful and check for trade embargos first now. Just like I'm paying a lot more attention to who I'm doing Acknowledge to. I can acknowledge merchants and smugglers all day long, but got to be careful with them military ships and bounty hunters. Oh, I sucessfully explored today on a danger 23 planet and didn't get hurt. I actually got a huge haul. But when I went to record the award I didn't get it. And did the exocrawler award change? I know I've bought that upgrade before for my explorers but now it seems unavailable. That's why I thought sucessfully exploring a planet with hard over 21 would get me the award. I'm playing on Crazy too so I know it's not the difficulty level. I'm missing something.

few more to add: 4.) Do the shuttle attack bays give you a bonus for majorly outnumbering your opponent? I love to board, so I'm trying to streamline it. 5.) do the battle prow and dreadnought architecture increase boarding action as well? and what does "increased boarding action" mean? greater chance of a successful board? does it relate to damage? I've just learned how to use it effectively nothing like seeing "1xx damage done, 0 taken. enemy captain wounded! enemy captain wounded in a duel and... KILLED!" on your initial board. and I just saw Slayarz Cruiser for sale, thought that was neat, haha.

I'm currently sailing around in a Pirate Hawk. She's a beautiful ship that we named the "Dirty Bird". The crew size is 220 and boarding action is pretty much the only way I fight now. There's currently no one that presents any kind of challenge to the amount of crew I have. ;D

Yes, large crew can handle anything. May I propose a simple exploration trip on a planet with Hazard of 20? ;D

I did a hazard of 23 yesterday and I got a huge haul and no damage. It didn't let me record the award I should have gotten though so I'm kind of pissed about it.

6.) Are all officers of the same type the same stats? In other words, if I get a Pilot officer in the beginning of the game, is he the same as the Pilot office offered to me for $20,000 later in the game? Should I drop that cheap officer I got in the beginning and upgrade him later on or does it not matter?

3. Yes, you get penalized by quantity as well as the type of good. If it is a restricted good, you get a bigger penalty. Also, if the good is in shortage, you get a MASSIVE penalty. Trading 100 weapons in a shortage could get you a loss of thousands of RP. Great if the faction that you lose RP with is your sworn enemy (hear that Steel Song - I haven't forgotten you).
For exploration - after you did the exploration, did you go to the Hall of Records and get your achievement documented?
6. Kinda. The officers stats are based at the level that you acquired them at ... so a Pilot officer acquired at level 1 will have lower starting stats/bonuses than a pilot officer acquired at level 40. However, they also do gain skills at a rate similar to your own so by the time you get to level 40, both pilot officers will be similar.
Is it worth dismissing an officer you got at level 2 for one you found at level 50? There would be a small increase in bonuses, BUT given you are probably rather wealthy at level 50, you'll be paying a hefty chunk of your cash to get that increase. Careful grooming of your own skills as you level will ensure that your existing officer will be good enough to keep on.

Man do I second getting and keeping your Officers as early as possible. LOL My current Capt still hasn't found a Mechanic. No Rumors etc. I picked up a Military Officer pretty early on. He's usually the hardest for me to catch. I have checked rumors so much I'm bleeding them. LOL
On the other hand, it hasn't appeared that I've spent more on repairs with the Mechanic, but I'm still holding my third slot for her.
On my very first game I decided to dump my Political Officer in favor of a Spy. I paid over $10,000,000 for it! LOL

Did you do it on Challenging difficulty? I seriously doubt it. Mine got slaughtered like lambs on Impossible with Hazard 10 at Explorer Skill Level 19.

I'm currently playing on crazy. It was an Explorer with like a 15 explorer skill and I had about 20 records in my cargo. I still didn't think i'd be sucessful trying a 23 hazard but I figured why not. I got lucky. But when I tried to record the award in the hall it didnt record. I dunno. Guess I missed something.
