Please, PLEASE help me to understand why my own crew keeps trying to kill me?
I spend all this time running paltry errands and assassinating fugitives for my faction, building up tons of rank and respect, only to be hounded to death by my own teammates until they eventually catch me weak and kill me in my own territory. They follow me around the NBZ as I honorably perform countless jobs for them, just so they can kill one of their most respected and successful leaders the moment they get the chance? Don't I get any protection in my own territory? Why even bopther with rank? The game plays virtually the same if you just freelanced and avoided faction rank all together.
It would be similar to high-level military ships from your own Star Traders faction following you around the quadrant and attacking you over and over again even though you're both an Exemplar and an Exalted Holy Titan with them.
I know the game isn't finished, but as someone who bought both this and Templar Knights on faith after seeing the passion you Trese brothers made Star Traders with, I feel disappointed. Is this by design? Please say it ain't so.
Much love.
Edit: I have enormous mad respect for you guys and the work you do. I didn't mean to sound so angry about it. I made this post after dying waaaaaay too many times to gang members from my own faction, inside my own territory.

Hi Smee ;D As a fellow noob to this game and checker of previous posts, it works like this: - You can get attacked by your own faction in your own territory because of possible "gang envy" and they wish to put you in your place. So it is by design. If you don't want to kill them, escape or use stunnas to k.o. em - Rep gives you access to high level equipment or faction abilities (ie Aztech - FN Rifle; Yakuza - Access to Yakashima; Bravestar - Access the Gate; Knights Horizon - Thopter ETC). so you decide which is important to you. - Runners are contractual "employees" of yours and when their contract ends they disappear but you can always locate them in a VIP room via LOCATE RUNNER. Hope this helps bruddah. This game might be beta but it rocks

Noted, noted, and noted. ;D
Gang envy? I can understand that for the low-end NBZ gangs, maybe. The Los V, Fennians, and Blue Ox seem like drug dealers and terrorists, so that makes sense.
But security companies? Major corporations? If they operated like that their structure would eventually fall apart. It flies in the face of them being "a professional organization" if they're following around their most respected and revered members just to kill them. If you kept killing all your best people your organization would die. If I was the CEO of AzTek I would put out a hit on the idiot who killed my best Cyber Knight. Why would I be grateful or in any way pleased that some low-ranking underling with a bunch of thugs was able to kill my most awesome warrior when he was weak and alone? Do NBZ thugs really think this would make their boss happy? Why do companies like Bravestar have no law against this? Why would a mega corporation allow this within its ranks? Even the Mafia and Yakuza don't kill their own members when they're in good standing.
It doesn't make any sense from a realism standpoint. Without structure and rules, a place like the NBZ could not exist with the level of organized power movers it has. If security companies and mega corps allowed unchecked murdering of its own members BY its own members, NBZ would quickly descend into a bunch of zones controlled by Streets and the gangs.
I think the gang zones and Street zones should have this kind of leader assassination behavior going on, because it fits. You're famous, well-armed, rich, so you make an enticing target to the brainless thugs that call these places home. But I don't think it should exist in the well-policed zones, like the secure regions with walls and roaming security droids, where security companies and corporations exist. These places are policed with high-level security teams, there shouldn't be any murdering of faction members going on.

Yeah, I think the same way too. So, I'm hoping I could see the Yakashima CEO walking on the streets one fine day... So that I could put him in HIS place too.
CEO: "WTF?! I'm your boss! Are you nuts?" CK: "I know you are, sir. But I'm suffering from Gang Envy."

smee - thanks for the feedback! We know this is an issue, and we have not returned to the task sitting on the BETA list, named "Rewrite the Encounter system" ... we are trying to get there, but it will be a little longer. This will help deal with Gang Envy (lol), make Encounters reputation aware, status aware (Followed, not), and also Contract aware ("just hand over the package and this can all go away..."). Also, even in the cases where it does turn violent, we have another task "Alternative Combat Endings" which will provide a list of options for those who have pre-planned (have some token or item or pass), are socially skilled (intimidate, negotiate) or other options to escape combat without having to Flee or Kill. Thanks for the mad respect =) It means a lot to us. We are constantly trying to make CK a better game, but we are still in BETA, so some of the systems are more than a "little" rough around the edges. Encounters is one of them!

its not gang envy anyway... think of it this way, much like king of the hill, whoever is on top, seemingly has the most power. Others love to take that power away. **There is a confidential memo being spread internally amongst all the Corps. It explains their view of CyberKnights. They are an illegal necessity. CyberKnights have 0 rights. None. zilch. I can't explain more, but you should seek out that memo...it might change your view. ** beyond the referenced Memo, you have to admire the Human Animal. They still keep the Alpha mentality. Famed martial artist Bruce Lee was challenged daily by "would be" conquerors that failed. They all wanted to topple who they saw as the Alpha or King of the Hill. They all wanted to take his power.

Sounds like "gang envy" to me lol
@gravis
I like Los V. I can do assasination missions in their area solo and non-stop without fear of losing. We need people at the bottom of the food chain.
"Los V gang members!!!! Fooooooooooood!!!!!!" -nemesis "ZOMG! Him again?! Man we gotta move to Blue Ox or something. Run you slow bastards run before he--- gah....." - Dead Los V

@los - I'd watch out. A friend of mine, Zipper-Jax got mixed up in distributing that memo around the NBZ and promptly disappeared. Guess who?

Random, my hacker has more than enough storage capacity, so I am always on the lookout for installable files I don't have.

Yeah this is definitely not the first thread or extended e-mail conversation about this topic. Change has been in the works for a while

I joined the forum to post about this bug since I've died at the hands if K.U. too many times after just completing a mission for them. It's great to see the community and creators are already on it. Nice work everyone.
