Orbital bombardment of Xeen Prime and hold... To quote a dearly loved movie, "Nuke em from orbit, only way to know for sure!"
What we we talking about? Oh yeah, Steel Song Bounty Hunter... Come say "Hi" over at Cadar Prime! We would love to have you for dinner! =)

I find in the harder difficulties, later on in the game, you get boarded a lot and for taking out higher level opponents boarding and ramming is the only realistic way (both of you sitting, shooting for 200 turns without a hit... just board/ram and see how that goes). I've run into a couple of very high-level opponents and found them able to dodge gunfire endlessly, but in the end, stubbornness combined with a finite proability wins out, and my guns chip their engines down (very) slowly. My ship is small (Hull 15) and my Engines high (40) and my pilot of 53 means it is rare that any enemy is able to change range on me. Boarding for my captain with low warrior and outnumbered would be suicide. When it happenned the last time, I found that if I retreat to mid range and fire torps, I hit them 9 times out of 10. Is this just because I'm playing Cadar?

It's possible I'd get a hit in with guns eventually, but boarding is generally quicker. reinforced prow + leviathan system/plasma cutters + military officer + ~100 crew gives you a pretty good boarding attack, and the reinforced prow + pilot officer + ~20 hull gives you a pretty deadly ram attack as well (I've had many a one-hit kill using ram with slayernz cruiser). However, it's going to be around level 25 or so before you have the skills to operate a large enough ship for this strategy to make sense. I just try to keep building up warrior as I go rather than letting it trail behind and boosting it up all at once.

Steel Song is a bunch of nutjobs. @the proverb: no wonder they lost the war...let's try to take on all of the European countries, the Soviet Union, and America!

... Finally, steel song? wtf? I never read a pro-Steel post in this forum, and thats where my sympathy for underdogs, or call it sense of justice, kicks in. I also wonder how Steel Song was meant to be played (roleplaygamewise... nice word, does it exist in english?). By thinking more about it, I get the picture of a Samurai, who traditionally wears his steel blade when facing the sidearms of his foes. To some this seems stupid, but to him it is the purest and most respectable form of fight. A german proverb says Viel Feind, viel Ehr!, might translate as The more danger, the more honorI am thinking of making Steel Song be slim, wiry, tall, almost alien (thus why no one says anything nice about them). Why? Well if you notice on the map, steel song is in the far south western corner with few exceptions. It is alone, completely alone. I think that tends to make them the ODD guys. Also, notice that they control A HELL OF A LOT OF TERRITORY, yet they are generally thought of as militaristic and poor. Hmmm. Steel Song reminds me of a really really smart son of a gun who keeps his grades at 93 or 92, Still an A but not the shinning 100 or 98 that attracts attention. I think they are probably very ... very ... sneaky. At the same time, they are very militaristic. Soooooo, my take will be: tall, wiery, dark skinned, with either red or yellow eyes ... and very insular. Samurai code works with these guys. Javat: Hard working and stoic. Rough but dedicated. They are miners and industry oriented, and as such I picture them more as I would picture the mentality of a dwarf: Passionate with friendship, willing to give you an even shake, but passionate with enemies. Thulun:The nobles. Proud, honorable and arrogant. Convinced of their general supremacy and position in the quadrant, and happy to show the might of their arm to prove it. Their word is their honor and they don't take to it lightly. Rychard, I'm thinking ... languid, relaxed ... like vipers. The smiling murderer hiding behind their lovely words and their assassins and bounty hunters. Not focused on military action, but more into TARGETED action. (a prince here, a prince there) DeValtos - Corporate, Very little humor. Treacherous. Greedy for not only money but for the IMAGE of money. Cadar: Pirates, rogues, rough men of war. An evil Han Solo if you will. No they won't give you an even shake. They will sell your mother, in pieces for a better price, to buy an extra GUN for the ship.
