Hi, this is newbie again, who cannot think any idea about cybersword.
As following Nemesis advice, I bought 2 jobs computer, stunna (should i buy another one for other hand as well?) and 1 k armor from Mars Omni tech (I took risk for going there).
I am the one who favours that armour. There is no point in getting 2 stunnas. If you want a good way to give physical damage with your blows, instead of the mental damage that the stunna does, you might want to invest in cyberware combat blades. Take off your blue glove, and there you are.
If you have that much money, get better armour. But what you want depends on what sort of fighting you are doing.
Yes. The important thing about the Stunna and the Taser, which is equivalent, is that they do mental damage. Most opponents out there have many more physical points than mental points. So if you give them a good jolt of 5 MP -- one hit, they fall over. If you have to take them out with physical damage, it can take 8, or 10, or even more. So you will have to land more blows for it to work. The other ultimate close weapon is the cyberware combat blades. Only use them if you don't care if the opponent dies, though.
The exception to having more physical points than mental points are those grey drones that are flying around. They have tons of mental points, so you really do have to take them out with physical damage. I keep a rifle around for this purpose and stun everything else.
Not in my opinion. It's a sloppy weapon. Sometimes it gives physical damage and sometimes it gives mental damage and it's unpredictable.
Ok. Your armour has the following tags:
Ballistics:
Deflection:
Dodge:
Nano-Ready:
Hard:
Forget about Nano-Ready and Hard. Nothing in the game cares about this stuff yet.
Ballistics is what happens when somebody shoots you with a bullet. Big numbers are better. When the bullet lands it will do less damage, and if the result is that there is no damage on you -- the armour absorbed it all -- you will get the message 'Armour Save'.
Deflection is exactly the same thing, but for when somebody whacks you with a club, stick, police baton, or fists, or bites you with sharp teeth, iinstead of shooting you with a bullet. Again, big numbers on your amour are better, and when the armour does such a good job of deflecting damage you aren't hurt, you will get the message 'Armour Save'.
But in order for your armour's ballistic and deflection capabilities to come into play, the bad guy needs to hit you first. Before any of this happens, you personally will try to dodge any attacks and avoid damage that way. By this I do not mean 'press the button labelled 'dodge' in a battle' but rather something that you are always doing, all the time when you are in a battle. I think it would be much less confusing if this ability was not called 'dodge' but 'agility'. How good you are at avoiding the blows in the first place is dependent on your dexterity (and maybe other things, too, it's not written down in the manual anywhere). Now, if you are wearing hard, inflexible, heavy armour, then you obviously cannot dodge as well as if you were wearing no armour at all. So more attacks will land on you if you wear the armour. These armours have a dodge rating of -X. However, the idea is that you are still ahead, damage-wise to wear them. More blows land, but they don't do very much damage when they do.
Walk around in your underwear, and fewer blows will land, but the first one will kill you.
Due to advanced technology in the NBZ, it is possible to buy smart armour, which will improve your ability to dodge! This is better than underwear! It'd not as tough as the high end armour, though, so the blows that land will hurt more than if you are wearing heavy armour. (but better than if you were in your underwear).
So, what should you wear? Depends on what you are doing, how good your dex is, and so on.
The three top 'urban warrior' type suits are the Hades Hardsuit (B:8 Def: 7 Dodge: -3), the Jaguar Armour (B:9, Def: 6, Dodge -3) and the ExoSuit (B:7 Def:8, Dodge -3)
They all cost Y8675. As a cybersword, you are probably most interested in the Jaguar Armour, because your most significant problem is likely taking bullets from snipers before you can close with them and kill them. If you were playing a Sniper, then taking blows from a Hyper-Punk until you could back away from him enough that you could shoot him might make you want the ExoSuit. And if you do a little of this and a little of that, well, the Hades Hardsuit is right in the middle.
If you want to experiment with dodge-improving armour, then Mars Omni Tech has a StealthTekk Vest for only Y6075. (B:3 Def:4 Dodge:5) The others are hideously expensive.
There are also Michelin Men suits that have terrible dodge numbers and don't give you much more in the way of protection. If you are interested in one of those, shop around. The stats and the prices very enormously for what is described as the same item. And they all cost a small fortune.
Position (and Aim, for guns) takes an extra AP, and makes it more likely that you will hit your target with your attack.
Dodge takes 2 AP, and makes it more likely that the opponent's attack will miss.
Cover is a complete waste of time. It costs 3AP, and doesn't do anything (yet).
Defend is what you do if you don't do one of the other two. It's just 'normal' and doesn't cost any AP'
Sorry, Cory hasn't released that information.
A distance weapon is essential for a CyberSword to take down those nasty grey Drones. So either you will have to learn to use one, or hire somebody who is good at it. Otherwise, keep to the gang lands, because a drone will kill you. Actually, I have had a team of nothing but cyberswords swarm and kill drones. But a rifle or heavy gun or powerful revolver is a lot easier.
My prefererence is the Yakashima Mk251 Bounty from Back Bay Importers, until my firearms skill is good enough that I can use the superior (but less accurate) HunterSight. Other choices are good, though, here.
Get her hooked on CyberKnights as well?
No problem. That's what the forum is for.
Happy Hunting,
