I'm sure this is posted somewhere on this board but I've been looking for about an hour now and can't find the proper thread...
A little help?
Just got a new phone so I'd like to bring my old character over. Where can I find the file and is there a proper way to import it?
Thanks!

So, I take it that this is not possible?

Cory or other people will answer for you. I think if you could find CK data somewhere in previous phone and copy/paste at your new phone, it might work.

There is a way to do it through the Google cloud that works for ST-RPG. I don't know if it works for CK.

Google cloud backup is not currently available for CK. Sorry!

Is your game is saved to your SD card rather than your phone? Have you tried a hard file push of the save files ? I do not have more than one phone to try this on, but flat-file data dumps do work sometimes.

sounds like it is time to fix this ...
I can tell you how to do it manually if you have root on both phones. otherwise, you'll have to give me some time to create an application

100KB would be huge

So, I have to understand that the core engine you built allows for save states, both for frame and reference, as such, they don't have a container [file]? 100KB would be huge, but you have to admit that you (TB) have created a pretty deep game , and that is a lot of info to have to reference in a game save. The more complex the game, obviously the more complex the save.

the saved game state is not delta based -- that is, it is a state machine -- it has a single state, the current one.
there is a meta-state file that lists the states of all the saved files the phone has -- like a master index. that's called 'core' and the rest of states are called 'secrets'
unlike ST, in CK and TA each 'secrets' file has it's own physical file on the filesystem. in ST all of the saved games and master index are in one file called 'data'
you would be surprised how small 'data' can be, even with 100 advanced characters in play.

I can tell you how to do it manually if you have root on both phones. otherwise, you'll have to give me some time to create an application not everyone has root phones.. my bad. creating an app to grab in/out a save file does invite save file hacking. *shrug* I prefer hacking active ram... but that is just my cup of tea.

I understand it allows for the possibility of hacking the saves too. @cory: is it is easier (read as faster) in read/writes to the "secrets" file since the change from ST to CK and TA? Or was the choice made to prevent said manipulation of save game files? ( as an aside, but highly related...what constitutes ownership under EULA anymore? Say I buy a cell phone, as long as I am not breaking any laws, I can pretty much do anything I want with it; right? Another example: I have bought CK Elite, but let's say for a moment that the save file in CK was like it is in ST. I have purchased said game, and as long as I don't share what I have found with the masses, we are all good; but I find the secrets stash...and set to "modify" the save file for a legacy PC. This is done for my own personal amusement, and I AGAIN do not share, or attempt to make any money off my hacking... but it is my game (as a consumer who supported and paid for it with actual cash) , and my save file to be able to hack. right?? Its a curious question. it is multi-layered...DLC(while not part of CK) is quickly becoming a hot button issue where DRM, but also content ownership.

Thanks for checking into this Cory, I've still got both phones so I'm hoping we'll get something at some point to move characters over.

I am not trying to rock the boat. my previous post in this thread was an incredibly bloated question. the question was small, my long-winded segue was bloated.
