I went to Evil T's and the Bears bar to hire 2 martial artists as runners from Kris Heart. Kris offered each of them (Emille Krass and Cibi) to me for 2000Y. When I left the bar I had 4536Y. That means that I must have had 8536 Y minimum when I entered the bar, and I know that I spent money on Vudka and Food, too.
But if I had had that much money, I would have bought me a 3 job computer. I am, for variety's sake, deciding to hire runners before getting Jaguar Armour and a 3 job this time around., which meant that I wanted to hire them at an earlier stage of prosperity than is usual for me. Given the sort of payouts on the jobs I am willing to do now, it would mean that I walked around with over 6500Y for quite a while before I went to hire them. And I don't think I did. I think that I went there when I had about that much money. I already have 2 tasers for them, so that sort of money means enough to hire 2 runners and get them inexpensive starter armour -- which is what I had planned to do.
So I think, but am not sure, that I only paid 2000Y once to Kris Heart, but took 2 runners home with me for all that. Because otherwise I have an extra 2000Y I cannot really account for. And, aside from the 'go intimidate Oxen' job available from the Howling Sea Inn, there really isn't anything I am willing to do that pays that well, well enough that I might have misremembered doing 1 job....
I will try to hire some more runners and see what happens, later.
