If a red-haired boss has one of your runners at the optimal range for his rifle -- or whatever it is that he is armed with -- he will shoot that runner even though a second runner stands in between him and the target he would like to shoot.
B R1 R2
boss B will shoot runner R2 even though runner R1 is in the way.

in a straight line? or is it something you don't like in the proximate angle stuff for buildings and diagonal lines?

in a straight line? or is it something you don't like in the proximate angle stuff for buildings and diagonal lines? In a straight line. It''s not restricted to runners, but it is your whole team. Baddies will shoot through you to get at runners, and through runners to get to you.

A straight line being where only the X or Y has changed between the two points.
I'm not able to replicate and I just spent about an hour placing and testing line of sight.
Any clues as to why it works in the 81 different directions I tried? Is there something I'm not getting?

possibly, I just tested it and what needs to happen is this.
Have a battle where a baddie picks out a target, either you or a runner and starts shooting at the target for one round. Next round, put a runner or yourself in between the baddie and the target he has selected. The baddie will then continue to shoot his target, ignoring the new interposed person. This is how I found this bug -- trying to interpose bodies between attacking trouble and a close-to-dead runner or cyberknight.
