First off, totally love this game. This is the first app of any kind I'd be willing to buy. But, before I do I have a problem I am hoping someone can help me with. I have been playing the free version (from Market), and can not get the updates to install. They download ok, but I get an error msg, "Installation error Unknown reason - 18". I have to un-install then reinstall and of course lose all characters. Before I buy the full version I'd like to know I'd be able to get the updates. Can anyone help me out?

Here is one response I got around error 18. This tends to happen to people running custom ROMs. -------- Given that you followed up with me more than once (which I can't tell you how COOL that is. Thanks!), I thought you might be curious as to how I solved the problem with "Error: Unknown - 18" keeping me from installing and updating apps that are on the SD card. Here goes. 1. There's a folder on your SD card called ".android_secure". From what I could tell, this is where the OS dumps all the necessary parts of the apps that you move from the phone.. it works like an overflow. 2. There is (should be?) a file on it called smdl2tmp1.asec. I have NO idea what purpose it serves, but I can only assume that it corrupted; if you Google the original error message or even that file's name you'll see several references to it, and removing it via the terminal emulator or via mounting (my preferred method so I can see what I'm doing). I had to wait this long as I figured out this much while I was on vacation. 3. Delete that file. Once that was finished, I was right as rain. I don't know how comfortable you are actually offering conventional tech support to users, but if nothing else, knowing this may come in handy to you in the future. Thanks again.  Ryan |

I want to thank you for this information, it totally worked. Now I will definitely buy this game, not only because it's the best game out there, but also because the awesome support!!! I wish more developers cared this much. Please keep up the great work, and know that it is appreciated!!!

Well, thanks to both of you really. Just upgraded to Elite, the first app I've felt the $$$ were well worth spending on my Evo 4G. I can tell I'm not going to get anything done the next few days, so thanks for that too, lol.

Sometimes I have to unmount the SD card in phone settings to get apps to install without a -18 error, on stock Incredible ROM. Works, though.
