I think 100Y is a nice sized bribe for ganger land, but if you are bribing your way out of trouble in corps land you should have to pay more. They said 'hand over all of your money' and people in corps territories need over 100Y just to spend a night in a hotel.
I also think that the bribing is too easy. I think that it should be harder to do, thus fail and end up in combat more often.

if it would be 5% of your money, then it would be hard decision - pay of fight but now its cheap exp - 100Y for +1exp and no risk

I think even 5% is too small a number. Probably this should be controlled by the difficulty setting of the game. Or maybe, when you are offering a bribe, you could end up having to 'hand over all of your cash' for real, if you failed a few saving throws. That would make the decision very hard indeed.

If you are going to be mugged, I would hope that the mean streets would be a little more cut-throat too. If you weren't so flashy chum, you wouldn't have caught their attention. These gangers will slit your throat on a whim...for power, and the creds you got; because food isn't cheap and doesn't grow itself any longer.

Reminds me of some old rpg games I played a long long time ago where they always asked for your money...if you gave in, the amount just kept getting higher an higher till you fight or lose everything. Brutal, but that's how it should be. ;D

Totally makes sense when you think of it this way...
gangers roll you over for a few ¥...they head to the club and being proud of their accomplishments, start talking. Soon, everyone in the area knows you got rolled, what you look like, and maybe even some of your routine for shadowing purposes...loose lips may have once sunk ships... now they will make you a Prime Target.

Maybe they should ask for 25% of the total cost of your non-concealed gear?

What does 'concealed' mean in this case? Is Cyberware concealed? Are pistols?
But, yes, that would be a frightening sum of money. And then maybe those with good negotiation skills could negotiate it down.
But what happens if you don't have that amount of cash on you? Automatic fight? Good negotiators can get out of the fight anyway, sometimes, but if you fail that check automatic fight?
I just think of me walking around town with 2 Yakashima mk251 Bountry Hunters. The average street punk should be too scared of them to try to shake me down. Somebody who is willing to do so is either well-armed or very desperate, but in either case I don't know why it isn't the rifles they want from me. They can sell them for a nice profit and while I am disarmed I cannot be shooting them. Thus, to me, it makes more sense that they will be demanding the rifles rather than cash.

interesting point.
maybe some type of formula that factors in:
- value of gear - offensive factor (weapon damage + obvious skills + armor + etc) - reputation / hated / wanted / banned - current wounds - how many friends - sector rumors - game diff
that could create a blended, balance-ready equation that would let us build up something better than "$100"

Shouldn't that scare of most gangers because you might be a corp street samurai that they don't want to mess with? I believe sector increase is more feasible. The higher the cost of living, the higher you need to pay ;D As for concealed weapons, I believe that should affect security check points and not bribery events. If you have cannons on you, the fuzz would really want to talk to you

On the other hand, the reverse should be possible as well.. I wouldn't mind releiving gangers/rich citizens of some their valuable $$/items/equipment. ^^
