Can't install on my HTC Dream

Is the game supported by HTC Dream? I tried several times, and it downlads successfully, but then I am getting the "installation unsuccessfull" message. What can be the problem?

Try unmounting your SD card (in phone settings) and have another go at installing it.

Thanks, but that didn't help. Tried with unmounted card, without card at all and then with card back. Nothing helps...

There is another thread here where Cory details some system files that can be fiddled to help with failed installs. I couldn't find it, or I'd have linked it for you...maybe someone else will have better luck pointing you in the right direction.

As far as I know there are no Android devices that are not supported by the game. Does it run Android 1.5?

There are still a few tablets that have resolution issues (I'm working on that) but phones like the HTC Dream should be fully supported.

Is there any other information in that error message? A code or error type?

Yes, it's Android 1.5.
And no more details regarding the error message. Just "Installation unsuccessful". No error codes or anything.

Would appreciate any ideas or suggestions. I cannot find any other similar game, and this one should be really good based on the comments.

Just tried to download and install once again. No changes - after the game is downloaded I get the same message - "Installation error". No codes or something.

BTW, no such problems with other applicationa and games. They could have some bugs, some features may not be functioning, but I never got an installation error before.

Please let me know if I can provide any additional information to help you solve the issue.

Well, I guess there is no solution to my problem

Cory, any recommendations? I guess I am not the only one using HTC Dream. Probably someone else was having the same problems but just deleted the game without addressing the issue.

Did you try this morning's update?

The problem, I suspect, is not that Star Traders RPG doesn't support the HTC Dream -- the problem is that the manufacturer isn't supporting the HTC Dream with OTA updates.

It is a challenge for developers to support multiple versions and Android 1.5 is an unattractive target at only 4.7%

That said I spent about an hour yesterday night testing under an HTC Dream emulator. Not the same, but it did work.

BUT! Now I am getting the Force close. It says:

The application Star Traders (process com.corytrese.games.startraders) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.

Same thing with Star Tradrs Mini.

Nope, I am getting the message right when I am trying to launch the game. It is not loading and I immediately get the message.

No report button is available. The only button that I have is "Force close". Hope this will help...

I'll see what I can do, but no promises.

Android 1.5 has some serious issues (no screen density!) and is only 3.9% of the market.

I'll give you your $2 back if you buy a new phone

PS: I'll keep you posted on my testing, if I can get it working with minimum stress I'll support you

Thanks Cory! I still on a contract, so changing the phone is not an option . I should have found out that this phone is using the old Android version before buying it. But...
