hi there. i stumbled upon this quite a few times. if i want to go omewhere by taxi (most times for a job), it happens sometimes, that you don't have all buildings available as targets for the taxi.
IIRC, most times this occured for Charles Canal, but i am not sure.

This is on purpose. The taxis in this town rely on what is officially listed in their wifi database which is a) out of date and b) never had things like 'the Fennian gang HQ' on their maps in the first place.

This comes up a lot. Can we give Benny the Taxi Driver a new dialog, where he complains that 'Life is getting a lot harder for taxi drivers. Nobody believes in maintenance any more. More roof leaks all the time, and seems that nobody is doing anything about it. Even my map database isn't properly updated any more. People ask me to take them places, and I have no idea where to go! So I recommend that you buy gear that you can maintain yourself, because nobody else is going to do that for you.'
Maybe this is a bit long.

I suggest that we drastically reduce the number of places the Taxi driver will take you, to encourage more walking!

grävling - some more dialog added to Benni to help, including your suggestion.

okay, if it was for a reason, i can understand. maybe you should reduce the taxi "targets" to builings near the streets? that would be reasonable for me.

By the way, how does the the character know the locations «like 'the Fennian gang HQ'» at the start of the game?
MB this locations should be excluded from the map until visited, heard of from an NPC or listed in a mission?

I really like the idea of the map changing over time as you learn more about the BMZ.

Can we increase cabbie locations if we know more about the NBZ?

nemesis - unlikely. As a registered cab company, they have a limited set of destinations, per their locations database. This is likely to shrink in the near future to a more reasonable set of destinations that are really "taxi accessible" (on roads, not abandoned, etc).

Ah. So we can't give them directions like "if you go left here, and take a right at the next corner, thats where I want to go" deal. Sad

Sad Sorry, that just wasn't one of the things we elected to keep in scope for the game. Priorities are what will make a project successful -- and ours are on storyline, dynamic world, team politics and RPG character building. A massive state list for building knowledge and taxi directional routes was not a priority and, Sad or not, we cannot add it to CK at this point

Going back to the notes -- the key thing we used as the pivot -- the Taxi as a Game Character and Personality. They provide a service to the CK that the CK is lucky to have.
The Taxi is in demand -- and that driver decides where, when, how often and how hot. They don't do custom deliveries, heck -- the Knight is lucky he got a ride in the first place.
Don't like the Taxi man's rules? Take a walk!
