I agree with shallowthought - a PC version would be excellent. True iPhones and iPads are a significant market chunk at the moment but I think there will be a significant shift away from that with devices such as the Nexus 7 and the new android OS's Apple devices are far too expensive and restrictive. Another alternative would be a web based solution. Take a look at Angry Birds - you can play it online within google+ via the chrome web store. This is cross platform and would provide maximum exposure. I have no idea of the programming requirements involved or the commercial value but it may be worth checking out. I have no experience of these things so apologies if i am talking nonsense! lol

I'm okay with supporting ipad/iphone for a ST RPG 2 so long as you're able to develop for both Android and IOS with the same code-base. As soon as you find you need to branch the code to manage the two platforms, you'll be causing yourself too much pain and suffering in the long-term.
According to all the analysts, Apple tablet dominance won't last forever - in fact, by 2015, it's expected that it should be about 50/50 split between Apple and IOS. Funnily, they didn't include Windows 8, or what the impact will be if Samsung loses their lawsuit with Apple.
What does this all mean? Well if you can't use a common code-base, then stick to what you're good at and produce a damned good ST RPG 2 on Android.

^^ What he said, my thoughts exactly.
I'm tired of customizing sigs every time I flash a ROM. This time it's plain old Torp City!

It requires a complete re-coding of the game into C from Java.
The saved game database, string list and rules objects are re-used.
All of the interface, game map, buttons, animations, etc are being created from scratch using Apple's crazy SDK.
This company called Blue Stacks (http://bluestacks.com/) contacted me today about distribution Star Traders RPG for PC, Mac and Browser. I'm going to follow up and see what they offer.

I'm still stealthing for a bit - I'm being treated like a sock puppet so have to work my tail feathers ... errr cotton threads off for the next few weeks or so. We'll have a Beta by November ... then I can breathe a bit easier. All fun and games in the software world

Bluestacks, that basically lets you run Android apps on your PC, and can be rooted to allow install of the Google Play store and other goodness. I've played with it a little bit, but not much.

I definitely know a couple I Pad users that wish they could get ST. It definitely will still be the dominate market in the foreseeable future so you should get your apps there. I am also on the list of those that would buy a windows version in a heartbeat. I read an article on Microsoft creating two versions of Windows 8, one that will be for tablets. I don't plan on dropping my Xoom anytime soon but would love to be able to play on my puters.

I actually downloaded their software a few months ago to hoping to be able to play ST. When I uninstalled in the section where they ask why, I wrote because Star Traders was the sole reason for trying it and they didn't have it available. I wonder if someone is actually reading feedback.

Rooting BlueStacks will allow you to put it on yourself. There are guides on how to do it, but I didn't get that far to try it.

I was referring to installing it on a PC and rooting it there so the Play Store and such can be installed. Perfectly understandable not rooting company-owned hardware.
Don't read this, it's my sig. If you read it, you might go insane like Fenikso!
