Posting to say "thanks again" to everyone who has been able to purchase the Elite version of the game.
I'm happy to say that we nearly turned a profit yesterday finally clearing all expenses, hosting, hardware and administration costs!
In typical Trese Brother's fashion we are trying to re-invest that profit in our games. We're budgeted a substantial amount for music and artwork in upcoming games and ...
I GOT A NEW COMPUTER!
Star Traders RPG, and all my other work, is currently done by a pair of ancient workstations -- they've been upgraded as many times as possible over the past 5 years and are finally finished.
Two days ago the one I use for database storage stopped booting and two recent hard drive failures have set me back several days ordering replacements and restoring backups.
So, long story short I have taken our profits and exchanged them for a new workstation. I should be able to code, test and develop new Android applications at a frightening rate.
With the current workstations my efficiency tracking software reports that when Eclipse is running I spend more than 40% of my time waiting for builds or refreshes (the mouse and keyboard are idle.) Here is to hoping that the new system will reduce that number to 0%.

I finally coughed up my $2.00 yesterday. Too late to help with the computer, but maybe you can get a nice mouse pad with it.

Glad it is working out well for you. It is a great game. Have you considered selling Star Trader RPG wallpapers?

I started working on a Live Wallpaper but Andrew thinks that my time is better spent on Steel Secret because it will sell more units.
I'll keep you posted on my Wallpaper efforts

I wonder if you could earn a wallpaper as an achievement. The sweet star background is pretty cool.
But then, I wouldn't know if I was playing Star Traders or just banging around on the droid desktop....that way lies madness!

I'd like to say "thanks again" this is the best computer I've ever owned.
The raw speed of 8 Xeon CPU cores is pretty awe inspiring.
There is joy in Eclipse again ... and it is all thanks to a few thousand people willing to chip in $1.40 =)

The hours of fun that $1.40 has provided is simply a bargain. I for one cannot wait for your new RPG. As a FF fan for over 12 years now I am always on the lookout for new RPG's and as most of my game time is on my phone now it's even better. Here's for the next few thousand people chipping in towards a new home office maybe?

Respect to your commitment to a good concept and responding to user feedback. difficult balance to get right. I sometimes develop in Eclipse myself. Is the android emulator actually ok to use with that kind of power? dM

the emulator is strictly single threaded and uses only 1 CPU. it loads faster and hardware emulation (like sound) works much better -- but it is still a total dog! Clicking buttons in ST RPG takes a long time in the EMU no matter what comp
