First of all, I love this freaking game. Wow. Far and away the best game I've ever played on a phone.
Ok so here we go.
I'm playing a bounty hunter for the first time. I'm kinda liking it. I am definitely branching off into some non-bounty hunter activities though.
Right now, I am trying to participate in a trade war, So a lot of my questions relate to that.
1) How do I earn rep in a trade war aside from destroying enemy merchants?
2) Do I earn rep for blockading in a trade war?
3) I have a terrible success rate with patrol. What do I need (stats, skills, officers, ships, etc) to improve my success rate with patrol?
I'd also like to improve my bounty hunting and I was wondering...
4) What's a good ship for bounty hunting? Right now, I'm rocking a Javat Cutter. It kills stuff pretty well, but I am guessing I could do better.
5) I seem to have trouble with the missions where I have to capture the guy rather than kill them. I usually try to hit the ship with a torp or maybe two. Then I get in close and take out the engines. Sometimes it works, and sometimes I destroy the hull and my mark goes flying out into space. Is there a better way to do the capture missions?
Thanks for the help!

Thanks for the help! 1 & 2: Blockading, and Yes. 3: I believe Tactics skill and Electronics in the hold will help with patrol. 4: I personally like the Dragon Carrier. You'll never have to worry about coming up short for armament (30 torps), it has a fairly large crew (100+), and one of the larger holds in the game (132 if I remember correctly), and it's not so mammoth as to be a slug as far as maneuverability. 5: Try boarding once you weaken the other ship, and keep a good stock of Weapons in your hold for boarding bonuses. Several officers give boarding bonuses as well.

1 & 2: Blockading, and Yes. Really? I thought the answer was you don't, and no. Blockading is best during a solar war when you have military rank as this will also give you xp.

Your more likely to find Merchants traveing back and forth trade routes of a faction than patroling a planet of theirs. Trade routes are the green sectors near a planet and from one planet to another, respecitvely.
I requested that cory add an upgrade designed to significantly increase the patrol action, as well as give the spy a patrol action bonus. He sad the omni-stealth array upgrade increases the chance of fining good ships during patrol. Having electronics and high wisdom/tactics helps patrol.
The best ship for BH is dragon carrier upgraded with dreadnought arch, escape shuttle, batleship arch, cargo +10, hyperion superstructure (omni-stealth array and spybank if you're really into patrol) and carry 50+ weapons.
For capture contracts, it s safest to advance to short range and board first. Torping or gunning can reduce hul to 0, but if you board without torping or gunning first, it is almost guarenteed you will not destroy the ship.

No. You only get rep and xp blockading during a solar war.

Best place to find Merchants is doing "Patrol" in a region with one of the merchant rumors:
"merchant fleet in $$$ exploiting a local populace.", "merchant fleet in $$$ that has hired extra security due to particularly valuable shipments.", "swarm of refugees overrunning $$$ and lowering the value of everything!",

Gonna add that to the help.
Some questions about patrol to add to the help: How much does electronics help patrol? Which skills help find ships dring patrol?
I alwayes patrol planets, and never find squat. Even urban planets, nothing.
