I'm really not interested in seeing a slavery option offered in this game. Yes, it's a real world problem, but I don't pretend to fly a star ship to introduce a socially ambiguous hot button into my game play. I honestly have a herd enough time

Killing off crews to earn salvage credits...

Just want to give my +1 to the notion of taking on "human cargo"...
In Eve Online they have it, and to be blunt, this game isn't on the lips of everyone to risk offending anyone over the aspect of virtual slavery. That's not saying I don't love this game...May not mean much, but this game is literally one of my all-time favorites of my entire gaming life (going back to Elite, to betray my age.)
But the way I envisioned it, was you could board the ship, kill the captain, conscript the crew, and then enslave the remaining crew members to sell to slavers - OR release to their original faction for a small amount of credits...Like how in Total War: Medieval II, after a battle you could release, execute, or ransom the prisoners...I may want to obliterate a ship so there's one less Cadar torp-dealer running around, but let the crewmen go back to their favorite spice bars...Take a hit from the faction for popping one of their warships, but without the "mass murderer" that comes from scrapping a defeated ship. Could even take a faction hit for refusing to release prisoners of a faction unless they earned ya money...
Incidentally, I always wondered why my crew morale would drop when I'd enslave a crew, when they GOTTA realize that had they not joined my crew, they'd be space flotsam...I know I'd be all like, "I really wasn't keen on working for the guy that just killed my captain...But given the choice between being paid and living, and being spaced with the ship I was on...I'd gladly take the job."
