I would like to see a warning when taking a contact about the faction it is against.
for example I have taken contracts that require accessing the palace or dock at the destination, due to my poor standing the access is blocked. So I have a contract I cant complete and have to abandon it

might be the way the game is meant to be played. At best maybe put it as one of the officer's ability or a new officer entirely. There are also some rumors that might have occurred only during ur mid flight to the destination that will not allow u to enter the area u need to get to.

The Contract should warn you that "members of the House Thulun will try to stop you..." and that is what the Captain has figured out about who the bad guys are.

I would like it to say 'contract cannot be fulfilled' or for the contract not to be a given in the first place, as if I have not been to a thulan planet lately, I don't know if I am allowed onto the star dock or not. or palace or exchange or whatever. Another option, is to sit off world and wait for the person to leave planet, say patrol.. But might take a few extra weeks as you can't just go down and 'scare' them out.

maybe factions button on the contract screen?
I have trouble remembering if I am liked or not, It would be nice to check without having to reject the contract.

haha ryan -- you have named the solution -- sorta.
Blockade will be the option that allows a blocked contract access.
Although it will be more difficult that way.
So this way Blockade / Surveillance are again complimentary to capture/bounty and palace/stardock.
The Captain will be able to decide how much time to dedicate towards completing each mission perfectly, and how many operations he or she is willing to take.

I love it when I'm right! . Jk. Really though that's how I would have delt with it as well. Either that or be able to bribe someone into going into the stardock/palace for you.

Bribe was an option in the spice hall at one point, it is turned off. it wasn't as much fun and the balance of price was soooo hard to get right we just disabled it.

I'd like to be able to take out a ship on the ground from orbit and get instant bad rep with the planet's faction. Fulfilling an assassination mission like that would be a sweet way to wreck your rep just so you could keep your mission record perfect.
"Yeah, everyone in Syndicate space has closed their starports to me, Prince, but I fulfilled my duty to my contract. My word is my bond."
Speaking of contracts, Political Officers ought to tell you when there's a bounty on your head, how much you're worth, dead or alive, and if anyone took the contract.

Being able to know my bounty amount would induce me to want to raise it higher! "What, only five hundred credits? How dare they! Quick! Find me some merchant ships to destroy!"
Of course that could lead to a new Achivement; Scourge of the Galaxy: Get a Million Credit bounty on your head and survive for three months with it.

I know that accepting is a part of knowing who you've pissed off, but I think if I have a Political Officer, she should warn/remind me that I can't get into that palace, star dock, or sometimes exchange. On that note, when encountering ships in space she should earn her keep and give a shout out if I shouldn't be attacking these guys because galactic alliances have formed while I was enroute and I haven't had a change to check the conflict board...just saying...

Working on adding more warnings. Spy and Political Officer will soon have lots to say about Contract offers.
