Long time listener, first time caller.
side scrolling option when looking for a new ship.
Better customizing for points. Think of it as a separate purchasing store, very much like ship upgrades. Example: if you have 16 charisma, and are at this planet, you may buy with experience and/or gold - unique captain tailored attributes. If you're going for charisma or whatevers your specifically going for this 'tree ' so enhanced those traits into something that is more specialized.
The ability to purchase random goodies such as a once use 'card' to undo reputation damage from an incident. Can be scaled on a level system, cheaper is for five reputation loss, best 100.
A directional indicator when accepting contracts. It can be just arrows. Make sure we know where we are going.
Special contracts like visiting the four corners of the universe - navigating through a literal maze of space anomalies - anything fun. They should be rare and thus permanent achievements can be... Achieved. Even something super small, just make sure carries over because we all know our captain will die always does and you can't change that
your framework for the game is more or less entirely completed so you should begin trying to figure out how to convert the text, the artwork, etc. etc. etc. to make it into a fantasy game, and perhaps even a pirate ninja nation world thing. If this is at all affordable, you should do it.
Make combat a little more complex, how I don't know but I would love to blow up two ships.
New ability for spy: if you can track a ship (usually through contract), he can board, try hand at espionage, raising mutiny, assassination, whatever's. In the grand scheme of things, shouldn't be that hard to do. Textual options are your friend.
New ability - whoever: read opponent captain's stats in a detailed manner.
Colonize a world - build it in a side game style marketplace which could yield some monetary returns.
Specific type of boarding parties: even three options is better than none. I mean you have those mercenaries, but still... That's a ship add on.
Money is eventually dwarfed and made more or less irrelevant. Scaling model to purchase additional ship add-ons would be nice, or even that a ship has a predetermined additional add-on slots (think sockets in Diablo),
