Kicking ass and taking names on the Challenging level...
I thought I had the best ship possible, a fast/fast Jango Class with Crew, Cargo, Sail, etc upgrades...
Then I see a new ship for sale: OVERLORD CLASS.
Hull 26 Armor 13 Engines 28 Sails 52 (!!!!!!!) Crew 65 Hold 65 Guns 28 Torps 12
Holy crap!!! It's a "bargain at $246,274"

There are alot of neat ships out there. I tend to capture instead of buy. Saves 300k credits! Currently Using <upgraded> Assault Carrier Hull 30 Armor 16 Engines 42 <<Both engine upgrades> Sails 61 Crew 150 Hold 80 <<105 with water tank>> Guns 28 Torps 28 Speed Fast Agility Moderate I dont think speed and agility tags get changed with engine / sail upgrades. I have never noticed a tag change. Until I have the experience to handle a large ship, I tend to go for a Terror Class, Spear Class, or Jingo Class. Whichever attacks me first Float like a butterfly.... Sting like a bee.

The Overlord / Mace classes definitely get the job done - I'm a big fan of the Spear / Terror classes as well, where the smaller hull seems to balance out against the Overlord's bigger sails... I usually wait to buy my first ship until an Overlord or Spear (or their cousins) pop up in a shipyard.
My fave's the Titan Carrier. By the time they start to appear in-game, my Explorer's usually become comfortable with other roles, and the Titan does most everything well, including cargo runs if you spring for the water fuel tank. And I'd rather have the Titan's maneuverability than a capital ship's sheer mass if I stumble across a Narvidian Hive.
Of course, I've also been known to trick out a Hyper Freighter in various conditions and just fill the hold with surveillance records, with reasonable confidence her big sails can outrun anyone who complains. The look on the Exchange's faces when you roll in with 200 records is priceless...

How do you figure out what the speed and agility of a ship is?

You can look at the bottom of the Ship Status page, it will show Agility and Speed.

Sorry I meant when we are looking at new ships in the Star Dock or ships we defeat in battle.

How about looking at incorporating ship yard facilities (in a future release). If availability was tied into challenges and parts were priced appropriately this could add another strong element to the game. Not being a developer I obviously have no idea how much work this would involve, I'm thinking lots , but think how cool it would be to make your own ship, maybe even incorporating alien tech?? Daz
