1. A cap on encounters when trying to land. I just had 10 in a row resulting in mutinies after running out of fuel, getting my ship wrecked and plundered by multiple pirates and having not the money to recover. 2. encounters not taking a weeks time as that means the above example was over 2 months trying to land and you wind up burning way more fuel than is reasonable and raather unfairly failing contracts.
These 2 problems make it far too much a game of chance trying to get anywhere in the early game, especially given we cannot save

peterb - welcome the forum! Thanks for hopping over from Facebook -- extended discussions are often just easier on the forum and the community here is more active in discussing game balance, issues, feature requests, etc.

I play on the android version. Its been noticably worse on the 4th difficulty level where im encountering 2-3 ships before I get to land reasonably frequently. This seems a bit overkill especially when its costing more and more fuel to keep trying and the ship is potentially a bit beaten up from fighting the more capable enemies so cant keep fighting so much (oh and the trade permit does nothing to protect me from pirates around the planet I bought it from like it seemed to say it does)

The trade permit only protects against pirates of the faction you bought it from. And also military and bountyhunters of that faction wont confiscate restricted items.

Encounter rates depend a great deal on skills. Which skills are you increasing. I was sure the original post was a gripe about issues with the iPhone! If you're on Android it is something you can probably address with some slight changes to strategy!
