Ok, I'm playing the trading game, and though I seem to recall that others have mentioned this, it would be very helpful to have a set of three buttons at the top of each commodity list to sort by buy, sell and distance. The lists appear unordered, which makes it tricky to identify which deals are closest.
For that matter a "sort by distance" button for rumors would also be helpful, though I understand the order of rumors is purposeful and designed to highlight the most time-sensitive ones.
There are likely other places where something like this would be handy, too....

Sorting the list in three dimensions is on the list as #448 for Star Traders, currently 51st item on the to-do list. Working on it ASAP!

Found something else, however, that's more of a bummer: Looks like you're using state information to save the commodity trading price data, which means its cleared when the game closes/phone resets. Major letdown, but it makes me wonder if you could implement a way to "bug" or track the exchanges visited so that they will persist through close AND update with current prices (rather than last visited) when you look at a commodity? Perhaps a new officer, or just a button (and payment) for hiring an agent at the exchange, to keep you updated? --Khanwulf

Major letdown --Khanwulf Not an accurate statement, but I am very sorry you see it is a bummer and letdown. The game stores all Exchange data in a temporary file that is controlled by your Android device. Star Traders RPG does not have any permissions and never argues with your phone. If your phone says "delete the temporary files, I'm very busy" well Star Traders promptly and politely deletes those files. A little more than a year ago the game did use the Android state system which is (usually) cleared by the device during a reboot. It took weeks of work, but we recoded it to use temporary files. This feature is one of the ones that is automatically tested when we build Star Traders RPG, so I can say with high confidence (and it matches the 3 devices I just tried) that the Exchange information persists between game restarts, crashes, device reboots and so forth ... until Android OS tells ST RPG to make space. What device and ST RPG version are you using? If you're running anything in the 4.x.x series we'd have to investigate device or space issues on your Android to see if there is something you could do to avoid clearing the Exchange files.

Well I certainly may have presumed the state information based on old posts I read.
I'm running an HTC Rezound with Ice Cream Sandwich that is fairly bare-bones in terms of loaded programs. It generally has 300mb of phone memory free without ST running, and multiple GB of storage space in all areas unused.
I'm not sure why it would be clearing temporary files, but it did so again last night while I slept (phone never gets turned off).
ST version is latest patch from a few days ago, 4.x.x series for sure.

I can understand the old posts -- this will be 7,267 posts for me and the game has evolved considerably in the past 2 years 1 month and 16 days since it was released. In 2011 there were no doubt issues with the state saving mechanism which are no longer present in the game.
I've got an HCT EVO LTE with ICS and just pulled up a Captain from a few months ago, his Exchange data was still present and loaded fine.
The game reports that the Exchange data was created in v4.6.11 on 8/26/2012 and it survived and loaded fine in v4.8.17 from 1/10/2013. After confirming that I power cycled the device and checked again -- Exchange data was still present and everything worked great.
I'm guessing at this point -- are you running a ROM or have ST RPG moved to the SD card? I've seen some Verizon devices were the OS clears SD card application temporary files differently than ones installed to phone memory.

Not running anything special. Verizon doesn't want you fooling with the memory, nor have I bothered to do anything with root or memory loaders/managers.
I'll check on where it is installed, and see if I can move the storage location.

We know from e-mail and forum that it is working on several hundred types of devices, all our 21 of our test hardware units and it is coded to the documentation that Google provides.
I'll keep an eye out for any way we can improve it! Thanks for the post!
