When you are playing your high level, hard mode captain, cruising through deep space acknowleding/retreating from random encounters and you accidentally surrender to a pirate and get killed. So long, Captain Crunch. You were a valiant pirate and will be missed by all. Truly a loss to the Cadar Syndicate.

If he were Cadar it's no great loss really now is it

A Cadar officer should never surrender to a pirate. We tape white flags to our torpedoes and send them over to other ships as a courtesy just in case they ran out of white flags.

That sucks I'm working on Pirates. They seem to be the biggest single problem with ST RPG right now

i was going to post a topic but maybe we are experiencing the same thing. i was playing on normal, so i wasn't dying permanently, but my last captain kept getting killed / imprisoned after hitting an 'acknowledge.' is that supposed to happen? again i didnt die permanently but it did suck to lose $400,000 in one shot.

I was surprised when this happened to me. I thought acknowledge meant just acknowledging the message - I never expected to get searched and my stuff confiscated. I am not really sure when it is safe to acknowledge after that happened. dM

This teaches you that the best form of acknowledgment is simply sending a Torp with "Hi" scrawled across the warhead.

Acknowledge def. should not lead to prison. Any clues on who / when it was that this happened? I'll go check the code.

Cadar think painting "Duck!" on the torp is considered "fair warning."
