The game is really great, and the way its improved by the Community is great to so there is one thing i would like to see improved: the Map in the briefing section! its kinda confusing at times when the mission objectives as well as the extraction zones both are marked with the same orange tiles ( or sometimes not at all beforehand, for example on the mission "Oblivion Cruiser" NONE of the tiles are colored Orange in the pre-battle briefing, so i cant really adapt my squad load-out, like flamer ,Neptune or berserker to the given circumstances . although i dont know if its a bug or if that's the case everyone). it would be GREAT to see beforehand where exactly the Starting points of your squad are, in which order they are placed and exactly which area in the map is what objective, maybe give the extraction zones another colour than the normal mission objective zones or draw a box around the zones with a small text or colour coding that tells what is what, for example: a green box around the starting area, a red around the mission objective and a orange around the extraction zone etc. i hope you will have an open ear for my request. PS: Please excuse any typos or grammatical flaws, I'm not a native English speaker

Hey Renegade - welcome to the forum - hopefully you decide you like it here and sign up an account.
I definitely agree that the briefing map is not always an accurate representation of what you need to do. In fact, sometimes there are no markers at all so you start the map pretty blind. Recommendation is different color codes for ingress, egress, and key objective markers.
For starting points, you can't specify the placement or the facing of the knight, but it would be good to know what knight starts where. I've tried selecting different knights to try and get the right knight into the right position (eg Vestmarch Siege - Isolation campaign, level 3). I wanted two scouts to be in the right-side of the map, but any time you start with a heavy, the heavy appears in the right-hand side, no matter if the heavy is at the top, middle, or bottom of your squad list.

well that's a good point too, but not really what i wanted to say. My point was, that because of the missing/cryptic information on the briefing map of where you start and end a mission it makes it harder than necessary to decide whether to take a Specialist (and how many/what type) in you squad at all, for example: do i even want an Flamer on a mission or just scouts and Warriors? PS: slayernzThank you for the warm welcome

renegade - thanks for the feedback and welcome to the forums! This is a great request, and some standardization of symbols would really help. I have picked this one up as #TA-804 to work on resolving. I will try this with a small set of maps first and get everyone's feedback before trying to tackle them all.

renegade ... because of the ambiguity of level starting points, I have two squads ready to go. any defensive position has my captain + 3 neptune specialists. Any "go somewhere" missions has my captain + 3 scouts. The scouts can all more 7 squares per turn (plus 1 for the bonus), so getting from one side of the map to the other is pretty quick when they aren't getting interrupted.

I made an account on this board just to second this. Even though my Galaxy S3 has a decent screen size, fat-finger syndrome still has made my templars go all Leroy Jenkins on the xenos. It's kind of a shock when your Neptune is preparing to mow down a hallway full of xenos and suddenly he runs right into their arms.

As slayernz said, welcome Cyrus. I know what you mean about fat-fingering your templars sometimes. I have a large screen Note and tiny hands but I still manage to walk my troopers forward sometimes when I mean to be shooting at things.

Yup - accidental movement is the cause of numerous templar deaths. Occupational Health and Safety is investigating, but they tend to die when accompanying any knights on an actual mission so report generation is a little slow.

Finally in the 32nd century, an actual use for Cloud backup! And, uh, the Chaplain caught on to us here on New Diemos, so my advice is 'Ixnay on the nionuay.'
