Screenshots are cool, screenshots are fun. Did you just meet and defeat an alien at level 3? Capture an Omega Cruiser with a fighter? Find a bug you will never find the words to explain? Take a screenshot and post it. After all if you don't have a screenshot, you could just be making it up to revel in the false accolades of your peers.
If you know how to take and post a screenshot share the details here for your device/OS. If you don't know how to do it, ask for help regarding your specific device here.
I play on a Nook Tablet running CM7 which is the equivalent of Android 2.2 to take a screen shot I... 1) On the screen I want to capture I hold the power button for about a second (don't just click it) and then release it a little menu will pop up. 2) I select "Screenshot" from the menu. It takes a screen shot and gives me a little toast telling me where it is stored. Pay attention to that toast so you know where to go next. 3) Well next you actually have to start a post on the forum and use the "Attachment:" option. Choose "Choose File." Once you upload a file the image will be displayed at the bottom of the post. I believe you can only attach one picture to each post. 4) I use ES File Explorer (a free download in the Play Store) to go and find the screenshot I've taken in the directory listed when it was taken and attach it. That's it.
5) Alternatively I sometimes e-mail the screenshot to myself or upload it to Google Drive and then make the post from my computer. I use ES File Explorer again to complete this step.

Oo I forgot about using Google Drive or some other share to transfer from the phone to the PC - I always cable up and have to exit the game to do so because I'm running the game off my SD card.
You can also take a screenshot with any Android device by pressing the Power button, then immediately pressing the Home button. The resulting photo should save in your photos folder.

I tried this and it did not work. I would love to be able to take a screen shot or have some other way to post the stats of some of my high level characters.

This does not work for me, either. And wow would I ever like to make a 'how to kill things in the NBZ' guide with pictures of -- bad guy here, you walk over _there_. If I could ever get the images, editing them with the GIMP would be simple, but I cannot find a way to take a screenshot.
Phone details in the sig.

It's different for every phone brand/fw version/rom I think. On my samsung galaxy s1 that was using a generic 4.0 android, all I had to do was hold the power button and wait for the turn off/airplane mode menu to popup and the screen shot button would also be there. On my new note2, the screenshot is applied by holding the power button and the uh, main button (the one on the bottom center of most phones). I can also use the the stylus, hold the pen button and hold the pen to my screen and it'll snap it and I can edit it right there.
I've also heard that the generic screenshot button is holding the power button and the volume down button (or was it up).

Ah .. so the solution is to press random combinations of buttons.

grävling, you and I are using the same OS. A long-hold (1-2 seconds) on the power button doesn't bring up a menu that says "tablet options" from which you can select "screenshot"? Maybe what I have is custom to my version of Cyanogen Mod or to my device, Nook Tablet.

CM7 is Android 2.3, and has screenshot natively, but I don't believe stock gingerbread has this option at all.

The game is coded to allow us to request a cloud backup to save our captains, would it be too hard to also code it to send the data to the Trese brothers for them to verify a character?

My phone (Galaxy Ace) doesn't have a screenshot feature built in, and all the alternative apps I've looked at need to be rooted - does anyone know any apps that don't need to be rooted to do this?

Okay I found out that for Android 4.0 and above, hold volume down + power button together. After about half a second, you'll get a notification a screenshot has been taken. You can preview the screenshot in the notifications section of Android. From a useful website, I got this: SO in short, try the home + power button, try the back + power button, or if in doubt, use Google to search your phone device ... something like "Galaxy Ace Screenshot hotkeys" You should find that the Home button + power button = screenshot. Gravling, you should be able to take a screenshot with your Samsung Galaxy by pressing the "home" button + the "return" button. So ... the upshot of this is that (a) you are able to get screenshots on most android devices, BUT the technique differs between manufacturers until you get to 4.0. Trust in Google

I hope that one of these tricks, I have a level 50 impossible captain I would love to show off. A ST hall of fame wall for us to share our would be cool.

Congrats on getting past level 50 - shame about the pirate death. Once you get used to Impossible (ie, you don't die every other turn), going back to Crazy or Demanding is like a holiday - things die so much easier on those levels
