Updates from Google Play for HTC EVO 4G, Moto DroidX, HTC LTE and Kindle Fire (Rooted, Google Play version) all successful for 1.0.5 to 1.0.7 with the correct version being reported from Google Play to the game's menu screen.
Really sorry to hear they're having so many issues pushing updates today ... and I feel even worse that people were trying to uninstall to fix the issues.
I think at this point the best advice is to be patient, keep checking Google Play and don't freak out if they're pushing you the wrong version.
You cannot fix it by uninstalling it. Once Google Play offers you an update and the menu shows v1.0.7 then you're good.
Trust the infrastructure, trust the stable parts of the game. If things aren't lining up, assume that there is an issue that will resolve itself in a few hours. I've done about one thousand (yep) updates on Google Play and haven't had a single on of the "go bad" in a way that wasn't explained and fixed by waiting for Google to work out the issues in Play.

Okay maybe I wasn't clear. Google play is showing the current version of CK as 1.0.7 and apparently believes I have that installed. I didn't try uninstalling and reinstalling the game until after Google play was saying it was on 1.0.7 but wouldn't give me the option to update. After reinstalling the game and rebooting the phone twice the game still shows as 1.0.5 when I start it up and Google play still offers no option to update the game. Obviously Google play for whatever reason believes I have the latest version already and offers no way to force it to double check my installed version against what they are listing.

Keep checking back for an update. It looks like Google Play is updating the text without updating the download.

And of course just now Google play gave me the update. Alright time to get back to my F2 Agent and getting her the good gear and a team again.

Bummer

Titanium backup will allow you to save game and data and after deleting and reinstalling allow you to restore just the data, just the app or both.

@cory no problem, wasn't overly attached to the saves I had. Swami unless it works with a non rooted phone I couldn't use it. I'm clueless on making any changes to cell phones.

I believe it does require rooted - I am running android On an hp touchpad(a tablet) which came with webos out of the box. I have installed Cyanogenmod on it which by default makes it rooted. There are TONS of instructions out there on how to root an android device(and the pitfalls to try to avoid for your device).
On a happy note the game claims that it has been updated to 1.0.7.

And since I've switched to a Samsung instead of a HTC my cell phones do 99% of what I want them to 99% of the time without mucking about with their software/programming. Apps like the TB games that work without any fuss on a standard phone setup are all I'm into these days. Now if I had a PC that might be a different story...LOL

I have a Samsung too, and things looked for me exactly like xdesparado.
But when I woke up (just now) there was a new update available and it was 1.0.7
