hey guys, i am new to CK and reading through this thread with great interest. There's one thing i haven't understood yet: If i wanna hire a runner permanently into my party he needs to have 50 xp (?) ok, if i hire for example Seeker - AgentEX, he starts with 20 xp. in the time of a week he can get another 15 or 16 xp. then he leaves the party and if i hire him again he has lost/forgotten all his new xp and starts with 20 again! :/ so how would it work to hire a runner permanently? I'm grateful for every hint! thx guys, u r doing a great job here!

Are you doing 'locate runner' in the VIP room, and not hiring a new one from the Persona-fixer? Sounds to me as if you have found a bug if your runners are forgetting the xp they have learned. So post your android version and cellphone make ...

no, problem solved! I overlooked the "locate runner" button and hired every time new but there seems also some kind of bug in it - as i hired e. g. seeker a few times new from the persona fixer, he's several times in the list. thx, that helped me out of my misery! bcos now i have the motivation to go further... thx so much, have a good time!

Any time, you have fun too. PS you can rename your runners, so they won't have duplicate names. It's under 'Team' -- same screen where you can make them into allies.

ah, thx for the rename hint! just came another question up.
Are the skill calculations depending on who is party leader? examples: -one character has a high stealth value. to avoid encounters, is it necessary to put him in the first slot or is the high stealth value active, if he is not party leader? -one character has a high electronics skill. to disarm the traps in the tunnels, is it necessary to put him in the first slot?
hope i managed to put the questions so that other peeps can understand them ^^

rainbow - yes, the skills that are used are based on who is currently the leader character. We are currently looking at this to see if we should just enable the "best party member with Electronics" to step forward and try to disarm the landmine, regardless of whose face is showing in the HUD. What do you think about that?

I like the idea would avoid some unnecessary deaths it would be just consequent then to enable the best member with stealth and the best member with negotiation *smile* i really like this forum - thx guys ah, what about the intimidate skill? it's not possible to change the leader character when facing a random encounter... so it would make sense to have a serious look at this, too.

rainbow - yes, I think if we make the change, we will do it for all statistics. Therefore, you'd really benefit from having a team with diverse skills!

Here's a question I haven't seen answered anywhere:
Hand/Combat Blades (ie, wolverine claws): When you have Runners who are hired (Of any type), they usually list only a single fighting ability (melee, weapon, gun (sniper/heavy?)). If I were to give this bit of 'ware to one of them, would that actually allow the non-Hand-to-hand type Runners to have a fighting (excuse the pun) chance in melee by giving them the option as it were?
Also a quick aside question: Fist - melee , Club - hand-to-hand weapon, Pistol - Pistols (automatic too), Assault Rifle (auto.. Heavy?) I haven't yet found the sniper Runner for hire to compare.

You can give the cyberclaws to the martial artist cybersword, but otherwise you cannot purchase them for your runners. Which is a real shame. It used to be that you could buy them for anybody, and I really liked things better that way.

Question: What do people eat in the New Boston Zone? I ask because I'm thinking about employment, merchants, small-shops, restaurants, little stands in corners selling food, gizmos, junk. Just wondering how to picture the wares and the atmosphere. EDIT: I think I just answered my own question about food. This is DEFINITELY a way I can picture meat (that isn't mutated or rat) in the NBZ. I bet it can be used for grain too. Soylent Green! Why do you think the authorities turn a (relatively) blind eye to the amount of killing you do.
