One consequence of not having as much money is that you may be tempted to spend what you have in stims and then crash out at a hotel for free.
Right now doing this gets your exhaustion removed, but you do not heal and you cannot train. If this is what is intended, then Holly's speech about allowing people to sleep in a 25 credder hotel like hers should mention the fact. If this is a bug, then fixing it just got a boost in priority.

How does the new cash flow feel? It was okay for me, and it made it more fun to have to pick and choose what gear / implants to buy. What does everyone think?

Just started, got eaten by dogs, have to start again. I wonder if the dog fight might come too soon for this cash level -- would it be better for Mallor to wait until you have a certain rep (Flynn lets you do escorts) before he will let you go to the vault? I'd have survived the vault a) if I hadn't had to fight it twice b) if I had waited until I had 7AP before trying it c) if I had bought 2 more medkits and d) if I hadn't let the thug use one medkit. No strong opinions on this, just random thought floating in my head now.

I didn't think it was quite as bad as grävling, though I was playing a cybersword. I did die later on in ganger lands because I lost track of my hp and had some bad luck. I did handle all three Mallor True jobs w/o issue (yes, I did lose my buddy in the vaults, there were flowers sent to his family). Of course as usual, I did all 3 jobs before sleeping and letting the encounter get more difficult.
I usually am done with Mallor and am up to escort jobs before my first sleep in MNB.

so it JUST lowers exhaustion. You get none of the other benefits of sleeping in a hotel/safehouse.

Max Mercer gives you a pittance for armour and then says:
...Once you are earning your own pay, you should upgrade your armor first to protect yourself.
Can we delete the word 'first'?
It's not wrong to want to upgrade your armour, but getting a better weapon may be a priority for you. Since you get a rather decent piece of armor from the Dog Vault, it's rather disappointing if you have stuffed all your cash into an armour jacket for 900Y. What you need is to have cash left over after that fight so you can go to Black Row and buy a better weapon as soon as you can.

If you play things Swamis way, you will definitely get Vault Armour before you can afford to buy and upgrade. But I improve my stats before taking on the vault, so I always sleep at least once (aside from having Mercer send you to the Gaslamp, where I might not sleep, actually) before going on that mission, and often twice. Occasionally more (got jumped in Los V land, and resting is cheaper than stims to get you to MP 7).

With less cash, you are more likely to have done many missions for Flynn before you take on Shady and his gang -- so you can equip yourself with stuff from Black Row.
If this is the case, then when Mallor leaves, and you go back to Flynn the conversation after 'Mallor said it was time to go topside' make no sense. Flynn is yammering on about needing 40 rep to get to do escort jobs, and you have been doing them and quite possibly even assasination and capture jobs for him for quite some time now.
That conversation needs to get pulled out and just be part of the rep ladder. I don't actually think that we need a 'Mallor says that it is time for me to go topside' conversation at all -- all the relevant facts are part of Flynn's ladder conversations (I trained you well and I won't release you until I think you are qualified and have over 50 rep). Mallor's leaving triggers further interest from Luka and Mercer in you, and that is fine as well.
But Mercer's script is out of sync. He says that he needs to get Flynn's approval, and if your rep is high enough Flynn already has, long ago. Thus we need to find that speech and make it contingent on having this conversation with Mercer, and not purely a matter of rep.
Ideally we would have Flynn give you more and more jobs but once he has got to the point where he would hand you assasination jobs, he should check and see if Mallor is still around, and then start telling you pointedly that you should be getting Trained by Mallor now. If Mallor is gone already, you skip this conversation as part of 'What's Next'. But until Mallor leaves, you don't get Flynn's 'I am going to send you on assassination and capture missions now' speech nor his 'You listened more than most and didn't end up in the ditch' speech. Can we restrict jobs on something more than rep? Because best would be not to hand out the assasination or capture until rep is > some number AND Mallor has left.

I graduated to the NBZ without sleeping 54 xp 52 rep and 3500 cash, blue glove from black Row, Armor from the vaults. Is this the approximate level you want for MNB knights to enter the NBZ?

I graduated to the NBZ. 67 xp 72 rep and 3959 cash, blue glove and Twitch carbine from black Row, Armor from the vaults, no cyberware. AP = 7 Athletics = 4. I think the cash flow was fine. The story flow -- needs some tweaks.
And I think it would be nice if Mallor lets you go after Whitey with any XP. but tells you to come back for your next run when you have at least 4 athletics and 6 AP. and come back for your last one when you have at least 4 athletics and 7 AP.
......
I may be being conservative here and suggested AP could be smaller.

Holly's dialog about staying at a hotel for free has now been updated to make it clear (no healing, no spend XP, but you burn Heat and recover from Exhaustion). Crashing out for free now burns Heat, but also adheres to Heat Wave rumors which it did not before. If you really are that down on your luck, then you should get another break!
