“The system just detected another hack attempt Stephen.” Bob said as he walked into the room.

“I know, this hacker is good, but he'll never get in.” replied Stephen

“You don't think there is even a slight chance he could make it past the final wall?” Bob sat down in a chair in front of Stephen's desk.

“For the right person, yes it's possible, but his skill isn't quite there yet. I do however have plans for this one. I've already sent a hire request to over ride the kill order that will get auto sent when he breaks thru the next system wall.”

“Oh? What plans do you have?”

“I'm going to send him on a digital quest to find Lonewolf. At first his repeated attacks made me very annoyed, but he adapted to every new code and bot I sent his way. He could be very useful for the company. TRON is the only security bot program he will not get past. I'll release it soon on the company net.”

“TRON? Isn't that an old programming command for tracing line code?”

“I thought it would be funny to use a command code from the programming language he has named himself after, TRUEBASIC.”

“Who the hell uses that code anymore?”

“More than you realize, although its roots go back to 1964, it grew and updated thru the years. There are several versions left that are in use. Half of Mars systems run some version it. Aztec markets for the public their “bAZsic ++” software. What could be more fun than a snake eating apples and growing longer or gorillas throwing exploding bananas at each other.”

“What the heck is a gorilla? And since when do bananas explode!”

“You really need to play more video games Bob, it will help calm you down. Here take this and play it,” Stephen handed a disk from his desk to Bob.

“Duke Nukem?”

“A classic. You'll love it. Make sure you shoot the turkey legs.”

I found the hacker that helped Lone Wolf at the Black Water Saloon. She goes by the name Acid Burn. The V's use her a lot so I couldn't arrest her without causing a scene or trouble. She told me that the only reason she helped LW was because he saved her from some off duty KH guards and their warhund. She thought the last thing she would see was that dog leaping at her and its teeth snapping shut on her face, but before she knew what was happening, LW came from nowhere and slammed into it in mid jump knocking it several feet backward. The guards were also caught by surprise and before either one could draw their guns, LW was shooting at both of them at the same time. One dropped dead almost immediately and the other got hit in the arm and took cover behind some trash cans. By that time the dog had got back up and started to charge LW. AB yelled for him to look out, he turned and yelled “sit boy” so loud and with a tone she said was almost demonic, and the damn dog sat. Thinking they had a chance the last guard tried to return fire, he popped his head around the side of the can and fire several shots and missed. LW aimed one gun and waited, the moment the guard put his head out again, a single shot went through his left eye. He started to leave without saying anything to AB, or the dog, when she called out to him. They talked for several minutes and he told her what he was planning. She has not seen him since, but loves hearing about what ever he has done lately. She said he has a habit of helping those being bullied or attacked by KH. People are starting to think he is a hero in the V's and Streets areas. New KH recruits that think he isn't real find out the hard way.

In the back shooting range of the Los V Warehouse, several people were in the middle of a contest. The two highest rank shooters were cleaning their guns at a table. One was Lonewolf and the other was a Bravestar officer. He noticed she was using a Aztec hand cannon.

“You've managed to over come the lack of range with some good accuracy using that gun.”

“Thanks, your pretty good yourself with those Raptor II's, in fact your current score is on par with a certain Knight that's been giving KH a shitload of trouble.” she replied with a smile.

“I don't think I'm that good,” he said, “besides, he's just a myth.”

“Really? I've spoken with several eye witnesses that have had some pretty interesting things to say. Like height, hair and eye color, body build,,,” she said with her right eyebrow raised slightly.

They stared at each other for a moment and then the next round buzzer went off. As they got up and walked to their positions, Lonewolf asked,

“What's your name Officer?”

“Genious, Officer Genious. Please to meet you Mr,,,”

“Would you believe me if I said Vash the Stampede.”

The targets popped up while they were staring again at each other, they both fired. The targets had holes right between the eyes.

“Perhaps.” she replied as turned to look at the targets.

A sudden explosion blew a hole in the wall to their right. As the smoke and dust cleared, a Fennian war pack ran in a began attacking. Lonewolf pulled out his other Raptor II took out two of them nearly instantly. Officer Genious crouched and fired taking out a thugger with a club. Another one was charging up behind Lonewolf,

“Look out!” she yelled.

He turned around and block the club that was coming at him with both pistols crossed. A quick knee kick to the thuggers groin brought him down. Another closed in and took a swing with his fist at Lonewolf. Lonewolf dodged it and with blinding speed threw the gun from his right hand into the air and gut punched his attacker knocking the wind out of them, as they doubled over, Lonewolf caught the gun and hit the man in the head with it knocking him out.

Officer Genious had taken out several more attackers while watching Lonewolf defend himself. She quickly identified the leader and shot him in the head. Someone yelled retreat and as the remaining Fennians ran out, she walked over to a survivor and began to question him,

“Who sent you?”

“Fuck you bitch!” he replied.

“That's not nice. Oh look! A fly!” she said as she pointed her gun at his head, “I'll get it!”

BANG!

“That's not nice.” said a mocking voice.

She turned to see Lonewolf staring at her with a big grin.

“These assholes were five minutes late.”

Her mouth dropped,

“You knew they were going to attack!?”

“Yeah. Cava and Kass had a little disagreement over some credits for a job.”

“Who owes who?”

“Not sure. That's just the story going round in the backrooms right now.”

“What do you think?”

“Lovers spat.”

Officer Genious burst out laughing as Clive came running into the room with some guards,

“Everyone ok?” he asked looking around the room. “Oh great.” he saw Lonewolf, “Did you blow the hole in the wall or was that them.”
