On the Status - Ship screen, under Ship's Statistics, could you please also list:
# of Water Fuel # of Luxury Rations
[Surrender contra-indications:] Any restricted goods aboard? yes/no Package aboard? yes/no Passengers aboard? yes/no

It's already on the Galaxy page. Just scroll down, it will list all the cargo on your ship.

I've always wondered why your cargo information is shown under "Galaxy" rather than "Ship" in your status UI.

Loving this idea!
I'd also like to see it on the encounter screen. Whenever I enounter a Ship that I can't Acknowledge, I rarely remember if I have restricted goods, packages, or passengers aboard.
If my Ship doesn't have any, no additional next is needed. But a "hey dummy, you've got passengers aboard that are Wanted Criminals. If you allow Search, it may void your Contract!" would be handy. I actually avoid taking these type of Contracts for this reason.

You've got Status now on the encounter screen so you can check your cargo and your current contracts.

I like the current system. Having an "easy" button generally displeases me. (which is to say that I like that the game is hard.)
On the other hands maybe having an officer say "Hey, you know those passengers are illegal, right?" would work for me. Sort of the way that you need to check on embargoes until you get a political officer who will warn you of an embargoed port before you buy something.

spike: You are quite right. I've been so busy writing the player guide, I have really been able to Play Star Traders since this feature was introduced. I would be nice to be able to "scan" an encountered ship for this info. Particularly, Water-Fuel (when I'm short) and Illegal Goods (when I'm in a position to Loot). It could impact my decision, do I want to start a fight or move on?
