When you enter the exchange, the Political Officer kindly informs you of any trade embargoes. This extremely useful when you're trying to avoid -RP. However, if Cadar and DeValtos are in a Spy War, your political officer remains silent. you go and sell some records at a Cadar exchange, and BAM, you're narked on by some sneaky DeValtos spy merchant and pinged by the powers-that-be at DeValtos.
If the Political Officer could report on Spy Wars as well as Trade Embargoes, that would be very helpful. It's not outside of the scope of her job too - she's there to help you not put your foot in mouth (or accidentally create a diplomatic incident)

Maybe the Spy Officer should report Spy Wars?

Still think Political Officer should report on both embargoes and spy wars, just because they are aware of what could impact your reputation with other factions.
Spy officer could also report on Spy Wars as well (both can)

Maybe the Spy Officer should report Spy Wars? Following that logic, then shouldn't the Tradesman report Trade Embargoes?

Tradesman should warn of embargoes as it's heavily trade related

Still think Political Tradesman should warn of embargoes as it's heavily trade related Absosmurfly! In agreement with Starfixer. We expect our officers to do more than just look pretty (okay the Alien Vet is excused from that expectation). If it is within their realm of influence, please let them be vocal and tell us what is on their mind. HOWEVER .... please don't have a toast from the Political officer, followed by a toast from the Tradesman. Single toast should suffice. Also, if you dismiss the officer alert when you land (pressing on officer face then dismiss), then you shouldn't get a warning in the exchange from the officer. "I already told you I was aware of the situation - calm down already".
