I just rebooted up TA after having my CK night brutally murdered by a Mars hit squad and.... melee animations! Awesome!
However..... I've noticed that the melee animation will temporarily cancel the sprite that the templar is swinging at, making the sprite flicker whenever attacked. I'm not sure if there is a way to work around this, but if possible fixing it would be nice.

A new challenger approaches!
The melee animations were lost in the current version of the game. Now whenever one of my soldiers melees, he shoots his gun! How cool is that?
To be clear, there is no bug where I can shoot my gun infinitely. Just that the melee attacks trigger a gun firing animation.

I'm definitely seeing muzzle flashes when I melee with my soldiers. I'm using the templar rapid reaction task force and working my way through the Moons. Using the top two green soldiers. If you guys aren't getting it, no big deal at all. I don't mind it

Just tested using a scout. Plasma gun = muzzle flash. Punch (using Storm fist) = punch.

Tested Hydra. Plasma cannon = burn flash. punch (with lev. gunt) = punch.
special = no animation (bug)

Hmm, no big deal. I've been getting muzzle flashes on all of my Templars (except for the captain or the berserkers, that is) but it really doesn't bother me. Sorry for the false alarm

So I think I've figured it out. My muzzle flash when punching problem only crops up on green soldiers. If their armor is the standard yellow I get a normal punch.
To test, just start up a rapid response team and use the starting green soldiers.
