Screen resolution was one of the criteria I had for picking a phone, and so my first experience with ST was in 800x480 resolution. When I convinced my friend to give it a try, he got frustrated because he only had 320x240 and couldn't really get to grips with the UI on that screen. I ended up buying him a new phone (640x480) with the express condition that he try ST again! It's a completely different (and much more compelling) experience. I hope that you're able to get a new device soon so you can re-experience things

Honestly most games struggle at 320x240. ST is trying to fit a lot of data onto a very small screen.

Display Technology: 16M TFT Size: 2.04" x 3.40" Resolution: 800 x 480 Pixel That's what Samsung says my display is... Maybe the screenshot doesn't show as well as it could? Games graphics look good, just everything is a bit small and cramped.

It would be much similar if pilot did advance and stealth retreat, or if pilot did short range changing range and stealth did long. Unfortunetly, the current mechanics for changing range is actually based on enemy actions. if the enemy guns or retreats, pilot advances (all ranges). if the enemy torps, stealth does advance (all ranges). if the enemy does advance or torp, stealth does retreat (all ranges). if the enemy boards, pilot does retreat (all ranges). Boy, sounds rather complicated. Athough it makes a lot of sense now that I think it through... I am not sure that the statements starfixer makes are correct. There is a lot of good information in the help file too, worth checking out.

What I said about stealth was based on others' posts. Although I haven't had a stealth-oriented captain so for all I know stealth can do a whole bunch of things too. What did I say that was wrong?

I'm guessing Cory thought you suggested Stealth allows you to retreat more successfully. I took it that you made a small typo and you meant for you it would be "simpler" nor "similar". Pilot is the key thing for range. Tactics helps in gun control. Stealth helps with avoiding weapons fire, and is more effective at longer range than short range. Still, you can get away with next to no stealth points as proven by yourself, Fenikso and others.

Super duper merchant captain? Or is this some sort of bug? I think that situation changes a lot when your prey turns around and starts to flee. It is my experience that fleeing target is much harder to hit, especially high level merchants and smugglers running for life. It is much like cheetah hunting impala: if it is not over soon, it is time to let go .

Well having all pilot and no stealth gives you a good idea of what pilot does. What I said about stealth was based on others' posts. Although I haven't had a stealth-oriented captain so for all I know stealth can do a whole bunch of things too. What did I say that was wrong? I saw this somewhere and I believe it to be true. At long range, it is (Stealth, Sails, and Speed) used in the formula to either close or retreat. At short range, it is (Pilot, Engines, and Agility) used in the formula to stay at range, retreat, or board. At medium range, if you try to retreat, it is your (Stealth, Sails, and Speed) used in the formula while if you try to close, then it is (Pilot, Engines, and Agility) I also believe the formulas have (Stealh * Speed) for long range and (Pilot * Agility) for short range components. So far, I have only played merchants and have kept my stealth at 150% of my level. I have never had any ship advance and have only been hit by torpedo's 3 times. Now, I don't get into a lot of combat. Maybe 80 or 90 combats. I only get into combat with other ships that turn their prow towards me. (I want the Escape Shuttle Upgrade} Since I have high Rep with all factions it is only independent non merchants that do that. On my Hyper Freighter {60 sails}, I have the Weapons upgrade that gives you 16 torp's. I have a low tactics so I miss a lot, but they can't close, retreat, or hit me with Torps. In combat, I normally spam the Torp button as fast as I can. I often have combats go over 100 rounds. My max is ~ 287. I once had a Captain that fired all 16 Torp's and the other ship was severely damaged but operational. I thought, "I am undamaged, have 20 guns, and he is nearly done for" and closed range to medium. The next round the other ship closed to short while I missed with my Guns. Next round the other Captain Rams me and sends me to Medium while I miss with my Guns. I retreat to Long while he misses with his guns. Having just rammed me, the other ship is even closer to having no hull, crew, or engines and I have only taken a few hull and armor points. I close to medium again. Next round I gun and miss while he closes to short. Next round I gun and he boards. Let's just say that Captain will never make any mistakes again. For the first person, you only had a 1 stealth and could not close which is exactly what happened. At long range your high pilot skill does not come into play and did not help. You don't normally notice that you can't close because you enemy often closes as well. You only notice it against enemy Captain's that want to stay at long range and Torp.
