Any encounter when you don't *have* to walk away like a cowboy is a good encounter.

Sorry for old bump - but my first encounter in a new game in Demanding (on my way to turn in the initial mission) was an alien. Hell yes I retreated. Then the very next encounter after i turned the mission in was an alien. Haven't seen one since.
