Is Viiny burning things for their insurance money again? I'm glad someone caught the mafia reference. My two scouts are named Guido and Noodles, with a berserker named Gino.

Errrr TB, that's great and all, but what happens if you need to get your party 20 squares north-east, and you've got a swarm of Xeno's bearing down on your location. Wait until the fire goes out? Hope that they don't go and eat the two squaddies outside the ring of fire? Noo ... this is where fire=bad my friend. I'm not saying that Hydras are not nearly even slightly remotely teeny tiny bit as good as a Neptune .... of course not. Hydras have their place in the field <cough>likewayatthebackofthesquad<cough>. Sieges are great for the Hydra ... but running around dealing with switches or trying to find a stray rabbit means 360 degree fire is != great BTW, has anyone done sieges with 3x Berserkers and the captain? Could be funny

The xenos kept going after the captain and hydra while the two scouts ran around and activated terminals. Eventually when they did need to move to the evac zone, they went through the squares that the xenos had generously extinguished with their blood.

I read your mission report and you got lucky Cadet. The Xenos are stupid, and will try and eat the thing that hurts them the most, but that strategy won't work with the Narv's. They are smarter, faster, and their blood doesn't put out nearly as much Hydra fire. Now go hit the mess hall. You've earned a bit of chow. By the way, the cooks did appreciate your little bonfire. It's been a while since they had BBQ meat on the canteen menu. I personally would stick to the salads ...

Was having fun doing missions with a Neptune up front with scout captain , soldier or scout and a hydra laying down fire at rear and side passages. Then promo for TB turned up and the temptation proved to great

You're on leave, Commander. What the hell are you doing on duty? Sheesh, Deities never listen to their own instructions do they? I guess that's why Steel was so messed up ...

Mo fyah, Brothers! Anyone still playing this little great gem? Coupl'a little questions and some observations here. First, here's the observation: At least at difficulties up to Brutal, if you run outta APs for melee and totally have to kill that Xeno who's evaded all the flames of your well-positioned blast and has gotten directly to your Hydra, Don't fear frying your squad: You won't! At least as long as they don't do anything but attacking (maybe, also using the Captain's special) while waiting for the flames to die out. Of course, this effectively paralyzes the Templars standing in the flames until these die out, but it's better than dying at the end of a hard mission (or, more often in my case, a hard but fruitful grind). On the the other hand, don't try to move out of the flames even if the flame-less square is right next to you: Then, a damage check will occur. Here are the questions: 1. What spread pattern does the Hydra's final weapon, the Plasma Incinerator, have? May sound like a stupid question, butit isn't: In the typical narrow maps of TA with corridors one square wide, the extra squares at each side of the first flame throwers' 3x3 spread grids mean you get 5, 7 or 9 squares of fire instead of measly 3, 4 or 5. Say, the first ones give a 3x3 grid with an additional square on each of the grid's sides, meaning that in a typical narrow passage of TA, at a cross intersection choke point we have nine squares full of flames, at a T-intersection, seven and in a straight corridor, five. So what spread pattern is it for the PI with its blast radius of 5? Does it give a 5x5 grid with the corner squares cut out (21 squares), a full 5x5 grid (25 squares) or even a 5x5 grid with one or three squares added at each side of the grid (29 or 37 squares)? 2. That damage dealt by a direct flame thrower hit is based on the weapon's damage (as well as the Hydra's ranged skill?..), is a given. Is the damage dealt by blast flames around the hit also affected by either? If it sounds like after more than a year of playing, I am still stuck at Aperio Caliga so I have not learned the answer to these questions myself, that's because I am. I am trying to figure out the perfect way of grinding in the early missions on Brutal, and before you ask "what's the challenge in grinding", let me assure you: In the first missions, there is! Nothing like trying to up kill both Hydras' kill count from 9 each shot to 16 and still getting both outta there alive - on Brutal Especially the one Hydra who has only 3 AP at the beginning. Especially especially, if you want the other squad members to grind at least a little, themselves. Stay safe while playing with fire! Blunt out.

Blunt Eversmoke - I know its off topic, but did you try Templar Battleforce? 1. I am not sure I understand the question. All AoE patterns are a diamond (we call them the flower). 2. The direct attack is based on the weapon, the residual flame damage is not affected by the weapon.
