Hello there everyone, and welcome to the first ever Templar Assault Community Challenge! As most of you may know at this point, we run a monthly challenge here on the Trese Brothers’ forums. We cycle through the various games the brothers have put out and this month it’s TA’s turn at bat. Hope you are interested and want to join!
Welcome folks! I’ve been thinking a lot on how to successfully run a TA challenge, and I’ve come up with an idea that I think might work. Here’s the gist of it.
Who can enter?
YOU! No, seriously, anyone can. I’ve engineered it so this is playable with both the free and the elite version of TA. We will start with the tutorial squad, so even if you don’t know the game at all you are welcome to join.
What’s the plan?
Nice of you to ask. Here’s the deal, we will be playing through 4 campaigns; the Tutorial followed by Stardock Raid then on to Tour of Duty and finishing up with Infernus System Rescue. Why those particular campaigns? Well, in my eyes they give a pretty good cross-section of what TA has to offer, start off relatively easy and move into the moderate range, and all follow a theme. That theme is; Templars boarding ships and killing everything inside. Also, the tutorial will give newer players a chance to find their feet in the game and gives everyone a nice rounded squad.
How do we compete?
Well, as with all of the challenges, this is mainly about having fun. In order to get away from the hoarding mentality that would naturally come with honor-based scoring or kill-based scoring, I’ve come up with a new system. This system is totally revolutionary and, as such, might fail totally. That system is this; I’ve come up with a list of “awards.” Each award is achieved by completing some kind of challenge and gives the player a point (or, in rare cases, some points). At the end of the campaigns whomever has the most points “wins” our challenge. As with all of the challenges before this though, we really have no way of checking so everything is on the honor system.
Any limits?
We have a real-life time limit of one week. That gives everyone ample time to fit in the game to their schedule and chat about it on the forums. This challenge clocks in at 21 levels total (if you run through them all), so expect it to take a couple hours from start to finish. Other than that, no limits really. Try to have fun, brag all you want, and make your Templar brothers (and sisters) look good!
How do I enter?
Just post here letting people me know you are interested and that’s it!
When do we start?
The challenges traditionally run from the second Monday of the month (in this case July 8th) to the next Monday (in this case the 15th) so that’s when we’ll start.
So what are you waiting for! Join up! After joining, head on over to the discussion thread[/url to talk with your competition.
