I can understand why they wouldn't be used in the NBZ - who could survive with a sword if you're faced with a team of trained gunmen and predator drones (besides Nishigumi Akira)?

I wonder how people survive running around with a bunch of clubs and what is essentially futureistic brass knuckles and survive, yet a sword isnt feasable... Seriously? A "Cyber Knight" with a CyberSword class does'nt even have the option to use a blade... Just dissapointing as hell. I would rather not play HoS just for the swords, because I honestly don't like it enough to do that. I was just suggesting a way to make it available to the players that want it in this particular game, (including myself) and a way to explain away the concealability and pollution issue. Neither of those issues is ever even mentioned in the game.. And if pollution of metals is an issue, why are guns so readily available? Are they all ceramic or made of plastic? Just curious since that has yet to be explained as well.

motajuana - really sorry that we have disappointed you so badly. There is a good world explanation above (see Cory's post on nano-pollutants and sharp objects, as well as the ban on blades as an attack on Yakashima and Yakuza). If you consult the description of weapons and armors, you'll see the types of materials that are in heavy use in the world today. Sorry that you also don't like Heroes of Steel. Sounds like we've struck out with you. Thanks for the posts and welcome to the forum.

Oh no, quite the opposite. I actually bought the elite version of TA, ST, and AoP. I love them all. I fell in love with Cyber Knights almost immediately as well, but HoS just isn't for me. I just wasn't understanding the "no blades" thing. From the name of it I fully expected to be a sword swinging bullet dodging cyborg in no time, and got cave man equipment instead. I suppose i should have read those first, but as soon as I joined the forum I jumped in to give suggestions. My mistake I suppose. An in-game explanation of the laws of the land and pollution warnings would be my new suggestion.

brass - as that's been the name in the game world for a decade or so, it doesn't seem reasonable to change. Sword refers to the hand razors. Get some, they rock.

oh, okay. actually CK was my first immersion in cyberpunk themed rpg games hehe. i have lots of cyberpunk themed reading materials, as well as enjoying a bit of netrunner ccg during my college days, but have not enountered the term CYBERSWORD yet.
Swords notwithstanding, I do enjoy the brawling aspect of CK. I have other ideas for melee weaponry i will just put in the wishlist threads.

Got me a used paperback with gibson's johnny mnemonic. JM as agentex, check. Molly millions as cybersword (with hand razors on both hands!), check. Ralfi face as face, check. Yakuza assassin with monomolecular filament..
Got me charged to play this game again woohoo!!!
